It has been speculated that Idina's key role in the Oscars' entertainment means that 'Let It Go' is practically a dead cert to win the Best Original Song, as evidenced by Adele's performance of the James Bond Skyfall track, 'Skyfall,' last year. If 'Let It Go' wins, the prize will go to the songwriter and the composer, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

Of course, it's not guaranteed that 'Let It Go' is guaranteed the prize against stiff competition from Despicable Me 2's 'Happy,' which was performed by Pharrell Williams, U2's 'Ordinary Love' from Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, and Karen O's 'The Moon Song' from HER. However, the catchy song stands in good stead as the lauded Frozen is also up for Best Animated Feature Film after countless weeks at the top of the box office rankings this winter.

After This Latest Announcement, Idina's Song Is Likely To Become The Oscars Favourite.

The Tony-winning actress Menzel voices the role of Kristen Bell's sister, Queen Elsa, in the movie and also lends her singing voice to the character.

The cast of Frozen have also celebrated a chart-topping soundtrack album, which has been certified Gold and still tops the Billboard 200 after ten weeks. The album has also become the biggest film soundtrack since 2003's Bad Boys II.

Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez have revealed that they wrote the fast-paced, sing-along ballad specifically for Menzel's voice, describing the Wicked star as "one of the most glorious voices of Broadway and an icon in musical theater," via the WSJ.

The Academy Awards will take place on the 2nd March.
