Less than a week after it was confirmed Fox would be making a U.S. adaptation of the BBC drama 'Luther,' and only days after it was announced the series will be returning to the U.K. for a new two-part miniseries in 2015, Idris Elba has more exciting news about DI John Luther.

Luther
Idris Elba will make an album based on the character he portrayed in BBC's 'Luther'

The 42 year-old actor, who played the titular character for three seasons until 2013, is planning on making an entire album inspired by the obsessive, and very intelligent, police detective, Radio Times reports. The forthcoming album's working title is 'Murder Loves John.'

"I'd like to dissect the idea of someone who has to deal with so much darkness," he told BBC Radio 4's Front Row.

"Detectives carry a lot of stuff. They meet someone who's done something heinous, but they have to have an objective perspective on them until proven," he added. "That could create some really good songs... and definitely an interesting mood, musically."

Although Elba is primarily known as an actor, he is also a talented rapper, DJ and music producer, and was even a resident DJ in Ibiza over the summer. Under the name Diis, he has also worked with the likes of Musiq Soulchild and Estelle.

Furthermore, this isn't the first time the award-winning actor has used one of his roles as inspiration for creating music. Very recently, Elba released the album 'Idris Elba Presents mi Mandela,' which features a collection of songs he made after portraying Nelson Mandela in 2013's 'Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.'
