Australian hip-hop star Iggy Azalea couldn't tell her family and friends she had landed a spot supporting Beyonce on tour because she was ordered to keep it secret.

The Crazy in Love hitmaker sent her team to catch Azalea's show in New York after being impressed with her during their first meeting at U.K. charity concert Chime for Change in June (13).

Beyonce agreed to sign her up as her supporting act on the Aussie leg of her Mrs. Carter Show world tour, but Azalea was banned from sharing the major coup with her inner circle for six weeks.

She tells Billboard, "I met her at Chime for Change, which was a Gucci charity event I did in England with her that she invited me to do.

"After which, I did a few shows here in New York at the Bowery and she sent some of her people down to check out what they thought of my show. Apparently she liked it and they called up the next day and said, 'Do you want to come on tour?' I had to keep it secret for so long, almost six weeks. I was just dying! I'm so excited to go on tour with her, so excited!"

Beyonce heads Down Under in October (13).
