Of course with some of the original cast not returning, this will be a very different ‘Ghostbusters’ and the team have been trying for a while to find a way to make the franchise fresh again. Many names of current comedy stars have been thrown around as to who could replace the original actors. One such name is Seth Rogen, but what if he could also direct it? Ok back in 2008 he described a third ‘Ghostbusters’ movie as a ‘terrible idea’, but a lot’s changed since then. He’s just finished directing ‘The Interview’ slated for an October release and if Jonah Hill is attached to ‘Ghostbusters III’ maybe he could be persuaded to give it a go. Certainly if anyone could take the original story’s humour and give it a current twist its probably Rogen.

Who will the 'Ghostbusters III' team call on now?

Until official word is given on who’ll direct ‘Ghostbusters III’ all we can do is speculate, but with the years this movie has spent in development the studio are likely to move on filling Reitman’s shoes pretty quickly. Let’s just hope the directing talent is there for them and that ‘Ghostbusters III’ doesn’t end up as one big giant death knell for the franchise.
