'Game Of Thrones' Stuns Audiences With Season 5's Episode 9 [Spoilers]

George R. R. Martin David Benioff Stephen Dillane Iwan Rheon Carice Van Houten Emilia Clarke Game Of Thrones

HBO's 'Game Of Thrones' has been getting a lot of criticism this year for it's massively dramatic departures from the book series 'A Song of Ice and Fire', upon which the show is based. While series creator George R. R. Martin stated on his official blog "there has seldom been any TV series as faithful to its source material" and reiterated how the show and the books are entirely separate stories, albeit with the same intended ending.

Kerry Ingram as Shireen Baratheon falls victim to the ninth episodeShireen Baratheon (Kerry Ingram) falls victim to the ninth episode

That still doesn't excuse the sudden, unexpected (and rather brutal execution) of a young girl, in Sunday night's infamous Episode Nine 'The Dance of Dragons'. Written by show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the episode saw Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) hounded by Ramsey Bolton's (Iwan Rheon) guerrilla tactics, and offering his daughter Shireen (Kerry Ingram) to the priestess Melisandre (Carice Van Houten) as a sacrifice. Said sacrifice involved burning her alive to appease the Red God, with the hopes of turning their luck and winning him the Iron Throne once and for all.

For the first ever US Red Nose Day on NBC, all the stops were pulled out. What happens when you combine Chris Martin, Liam Neeson, and a large section of the cast of 'Game of Thrones'? Well, you get a behind-the-scenes mockumentary of 'Game of Thrones: The Musical', featuring some of your favourite characters singing such hits as 'Rastafarian Targaryen'.

The six-minute sketch contained a lot of the current (surviving) cast of the show, like Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Kit Harington, as well as actors like John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy/Reek), Iwan Rheon (Ramsey Bolton) and Charlotte Hope (Myranda). There was also an appearance from some of the long-past actors like Mark Addy (King Robert Baratheon in Season One), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Jojen Reed) and Rose Leslie (Ygritte), who received a serenade from Kit Harington. Diana Rigg (Olenna Tyrell) also made a brief appearance to discuss how the whole concert was a terrible idea.

The only problem is, a strange phenomenon has taken a hold of those within the quarantine zone spreading horror and violence throughout. "Game Of Thrones" Recap: "The Mountain And The Viper" And A Whole World Of NO

Emilia Clarke Sophie Turner Peter Dinklage Iwan Rheon

Game of Thrones, it’s been too long. But here we are, on the other side of The Mountain and the Viper and Tyrion’s trial by combat. Let’s recap – as usual, ALL OF THE SPOILERS ahead.

Before the main event, we join Gilly at her new job as a serving girl in Mole’s Town, where things are about to go down. “Things” in this case refers to a gang of wildlings, including our old friend Ygritte, who descend on the village and slaughter without mercy. Well, not entirely. At one point Ygritte finds Gilly cowering in a corner with baby Sam. Instead of doing her whole killing shtick, however, Ygritte spares our favorite new mum and moves on on her merry way. Good times.

Game of Thrones, Charles Dance
Tywin really wants to kill Tyrion. But first...

Extraordinary
British actor Fletcher makes a terrific directing debut with this sharply told story of a family struggling to survive in a bleak environment. But this film is so full of hope that it thoroughly engages our emotions even when things get scary.

Since their mum left nine months earlier, 15-year-old Dean (Poulter) has been taking care of 11-year-old brother Jimmy (Williams) by working in construction at the Olympic park. But Jimmy is failing at school and getting increasingly involved with a gang of local drug dealers (Gregory, Maskell and Rheon). Then after eight years in prison, their dad Bill (Creed-Miles) comes home, realising that he must show some responsibility to keep his sons from being taken into care. But they don't know him, and he doesn't know anything about being a father.

Good
This intriguing what-if story is set in an isolated Welsh valley after the failure of D-Day allows the Nazis to invade Britain. It's a great idea, and the filmmaking is sensitive and complex, although it's never as exciting as it should be.

After their men sneak off in the night to join the resistance, farm wives Sarah (Riseborough) and Maggie (Morgan) are left to do the work themselves. Soon a group of German soldiers arrives, led by Captain Albrecht (Wlaschiha), who takes an odd approach to his role as an occupying force. He decides to hide from the Gestapo in this valley, hopefully riding out the war while keeping his young officers (Ianevski, Doestch and Taubman) from battle. He also develops an uneasy friendship with Sarah.
