Jailed rapper Ja Rule celebrated his 36th birthday on Wednesday (29Feb12) by calling into a New York radio station for an 11 minute chat.
The hitmaker and actor, who is serving a three-year sentence for illegal weapons possession at the Mid-State Correctional Facility in Marcy, called DJ Gary 'Big Poppa' Spears on Kiss-Fm to chat about life behind bars.
Ja Rule, real name Jeffrey Atkins, revealed every day is "like Groundhog Day," explaining, "It's the same day over and over again," but he was upbeat when discussing his diet and work-out regime.
He explained, "I get (food) packages... I get good food here... We do what we can with a toaster oven and a microwave."
And he promised fans he'll be a bigger man when he gets out of jail - literally.
Ja Rule says, "I'mma (I'm going to) come out very physically fit... It hasn't been all bad."
The rap star claims he has packed on 25 pounds (11.3 kilograms) of muscle in the jail's gym.
