It's half-way through the season of Dancing With the Stars: the dances are becoming more complex, the stars are stressed and the competition is fiercer. With eight competitors left at the beginning of last night's (Monday, 21 October) episode and a cruel clause added to panic even the coolest of celebrities, who was eliminated this week?

The judges, Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli, decided a "Switch Up" improvisation dance should be added in order for the competitors to gain extra points. The music at any point in a couple's performance could be switched up so the dancers were forced to think on their feet - quite literally.

As Dancing With The Stars entered its fifth week on Monday, it was time for the dancers to wave goodbye to one of their own. We were treated to a performance from R&B singer Aloe Blacc and the pro troupe which started the evening with a glamorous tone. However the tension was raised when host Tom Bergeron announced that "one of our female stars will be eliminated tonight."

Though She Was One Of This Week's Highest Scored Competitors, Christina Milian Was Kicked Off The Show.

The stars then entered into a week given the theme 'The Most Memorable Year' of their lives. Corbin Bleu's foxtrot remembered 2011; the year his sister was diagnosed with severe scoliosis. He earned some serious praise from the judges, earning a total score of 28 and particular warmth from Len Goodman who called the actor a "terrific dancer."

Dancing with the Stars returns with a slightly revamped cast and a slightly younger target demographic, it would seem. The cast in question was revealed Wednesday on Good Morning America. Some of the plucky young talent that producers have tapped for the show’s seventeenth season includes Jersey Shore diva Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jack Osbourne (aka Ozzy’s kid, who has no endeavours worth mentioning beyond a gig on his father’s VH1 reality program.)

Snooki was one of the surprises of this season's cast.

This isn’t everything the seventeenth cycle has to offer however. In what is probably the most inspirational story to come out of that show in some time, Valerie Harper was also announced as part of the new cast, just a few months after being diagnosed with a terminal form of cancer. After the announcement, the actress gave a brief interview with CNN, during which she seemed as upbeat and excited as ever and particularly thrilled to join the intense reality show competition. On a show, which never quite manages to finish a season without one or two injured contestants, Harper is eager to join in on the fun. She even shared a message for fans of Dancing and her own career.

Matthew Mosshart, brother of The Dead Weather/The Kills lead singer Alison Mosshart, has popped the question to his girlfriend Kelly Osbourne, who is the daughter of Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne. Mosshart, a vegan chef-turned model, mustered up the courage to ask Kelly to marry him whilst the pair were on holiday on the island of Anguilla in the Caribbean. The couple met whilst at model Kate Moss and The Kills guitarist Jamie Hince's wedding in 2011, where Matthew's sister Alison was best woman. They tried out a distance relationship at first - Osbourne lives in L.A whilst Mosshart lived in New York, but after a year he made the decision to uproot his NY home and job to be with his love on the other side of the country - the "biggest sacrifice," according to 28-year old Kelly.

She told Hello! Magazine via Sky News that her engagement ring was inspired by her father's earring: "I used to hold my finger up to his ear when I was little and say: 'I want a ring like that'. Now I have one." In a rather romantic statement, Mosshart had admitted "I knew she was The One pretty early on," with Kelly claiming to All Voices that her boyfriend's vegan diet and positive attitude to healthy eating helped the TV personality, who has previously struggled with her weight, shedding 63 pounds last year. The pair are clearly as smitten as possible, with Kelly proclaiming "Matthew has broken down every one of my walls. There's nothing I wouldn't do in front of him."

Sharon Osbourne took the huge decision to have a double mastectomy following her discovery that she was carrying the gene that caused 50 to 80 per cent of carriers to develop breast cancer. 

The American Idol judge and wife of Black Sabbath rocker Ozzy Osbourne has already suffered from colon cancer that spread to her lymph nodes; a diagnosis that was given in 2002 and was subsequently beaten despite being given only a 33% chance of survival. 'I've had cancer before and I didn't want to live under that cloud [of breast cancer]: I decided to just take everything off, and had a double mastectomy', she revealed to Hello! Magazine in a tell-all interview. It's a 13-hour operation that can take several weeks to recover from but Sharon refuses to feel sorry for herself. 'It's not 'pity me': it's a decision I made that's got rid of this weight that I was carrying around', she said. 'For me, it wasn't a big decision, it was a no-brainer.' She insisted that the decision was easy having just welcomed her first granddaughter Pearl into the family: 'I want to be around for a long time and be a grandmother to Pearl. I didn't even think of my breasts in a nostalgic way.'

The once plastic surgery obsessed star who has spent £300,000 on surgical enhancements could possibly thank her recent family traumas for being less concerned with her physical appearance; it has only been a matter of months since her son Jack was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and Sharon has freely and emotionally admitted it has not been easy to cope with.

Sharon Osbourne has revealed that she underwent a double mastectomy after learning she had a genetic mutation that raised her chances of developing breast cancer. Osbourne, 60, said the surgery was a "no brainer" once doctors told her about the gene.

"As soon as I found out I had the breast cancer gene, I thought: 'The odds are not in my favour", she told Hello magazine, "I've had cancer before and I didn't want to live under that cloud: I decided to just take everything off, and had a double mastectomy." The Talk star documented her struggles with colon cancer 10 years ago during her smash-hit reality series The Osbournes. It's sure been a rough year for the famous family, with son Jack diagnosed with multiple sclerosis - however, his first daughter Pearl also arrived into the world. "I didn't want to live the rest of my life with that shadow hanging over me. I want to be around for a long time and be a grandmother to Pearl," explained Sharon, adding, "I didn't even think of my breasts in a nostalgic way, I just wanted to be able to live my life without that fear all the time. It's not 'pity me', it's a decision I made that's got rid of this weight that I was carrying around."

Osbourne didn't go into detail about the genetic findings, though a double mastectomy is usually an option for women with certain factors that put them at high risk of developing breast cancer. This includes a previous diagnosis, a strong family history of cancer, or a mutation.
