Director MACMahon's movie chronicles the efforts of record company talent scouts from the late 1920s as they attempted to record the birth of the blues and Americana and gospel artists.

The film has inspired Redford to create The American Epic Sessions, during which modern artists like Beck, Elton John and White will record using equipment re-created from the documentary.

Music from the movie and documentary series, produced by Burnett and White, will be released on the former White Stripes star's Third Man Records.

White, Redford and Burnett will serve as executive producers on the film and documentary series.
