James Corden's Brit Stunt: Going Out With A Bang Needs More Practice

James Corden Beyonce Knowles Jake Bugg Brit Awards

James Corden has become synonymous with The Brits of late, but he’ll have to let go of that tonight when he hosts the show for the last time. He’s planning on going out with a bang, but could we have a live distaster on our hands?

James CordenJames Corden will be hosting the Brits for the last time tonight

The Mirror have reported that Corden wants to ‘go out in a blaze of glory’. There wasn’t much information, other than the fact the practise run didn’t exactly go to plan…

"Things got a bit out of hand during rehearsals, and the flames were massive, so organisers are a bit worried about how it will go on the night,” a source told The Mirror. “James is confident he can handle it though and it will certainly be a lively opening to the show.”

If that’s not a reason to tune in, then there really aren’t any. Well, there is Beyonce actually. Corden let slip to Zoe Ball on Radio 2 that the queen of pop will be performing at tonight’s award show.

"There's this weird thing with this year's Brits where I've been - more than any other year - told things I can't say," Corden told BBC Radio 2's Zoe Ball. "But I figure it's the day..."

He then said, after turning to his PR people, "I must be able to tell you? Beyoncé. Beyoncé is performing tonight. She's performing a track she has never ever performed live before. Ever."

One person who won’t be enjoying Bey’s performance is Jake Bugg, as the little rugrat of contrived pop doesn’t even want to be there.

“It’s boring,” he says. “I don’t really want to go but I might as well. I’ve got nothing else to do. I love the party afterwards, don’t get me wrong, they’re great but the actual event is pretty boring when you have to watch those crap acts perform.”

Don’t go then.

So Robbie Williams Has The 1000th UK No.1 Album, But Who Did It First?

Robbie Williams Frank Sinatra Jake Bugg Lady GaGa

While one charismatic, sweet-talking solo singer has marked a landmark for British music by recording the country’s 1000th number one, the man who make the mould for such a singer kicked the whole thing off with the UK’s very first.

Robbie Williams Swings Both WaysRobbie Williams Is No.1 On The Albums Chart

Robbie Williams’ big band album Swings Both Ways topped the charts, coincidentally becoming the UK’s 1000th number one album, but it was the king of charm, Frank Sinatra, who had the first number one, with Songs For Swingin' Lovers, in 1956. The connection between the first and the last make for a palpable sense of symmetry between the pair.

Cara Delevingne Stars In Karl Lagerfeld "Horror" Film & Explains Why Social Media Is An Issue

Cara Delevingne Karl Lagerfeld Jake Bugg Harry Styles

Model Cara Delevingne may have not made it on to the Fifty Shades of Grey cast but she has marked another step into acting in Karl Lagerfeld's new short film for fashion house Fendi.

Cara Delevingne

The 21 year-old face of the brand appeared in a seven minute video as a tearful girl with big hair who turns up at an old house with Saskia de Brauw rady for a black tie party. The pair are met by their sinister host who is played by Lady Amanda Harlech who shows them round her haunting estate. It dawns on the young guests that things aren't quite what they seem, meaning a handsome stranger must rescue them before it's too late...

Splendour 2013 - Wollaton Park, Nottingham Preview

Splendour 2013, as festivals go, could be said to be a little wet behind the ears but in past years they have managed to get the likes of Blondie, Katie B, Dizzie Rascal and Feeder on their line-ups, and it's not just about the music either. Splendour also boasts a Comedy Stage and promotes families attending by offering children free entry because let's face it, in today's cash-strapped climate, 'free' is not only the magic number but is now the magic word. There's also a kids area and a fun fair so it's a very family friendly festival.

Splendour 2013 - Nottingham Preview

This last year has been somewhat of a big one for some of Nottingham's favourites, with the success of Jake Bugg and Dog Is Dead on the music scene, and Carl Froch getting his revenge in another great battle against Mikkel Kessler. Finally, with the nation feeling very patriotic thanks to the Olympics and Paralympics, Nottingham's very own double amputee Richard Whitehead wins a gold medal.

The Festival opens its gates at 12 noon with the first bands scheduled for 1 pm. Next, the tickets; nice and easy prices are frozen and are the same as last year. Tickets are priced at £37.50 or £27.50 (adult Citycard holders), an 11-17 year old ticket is priced at £27.50 or £15 for Citycard, and, finally, keeping up with the family friendly ethos, all children under 10s have free entry.

Mumford & Sons Are Kings Of The Charts After Glasto Success

Mumford And Sons John Newman Arctic Monkeys Jake Bugg Rolling Stones Michael Buble Tom Odell

It's been a rollercoaster of a few months for West London's folk rockers, Mumford & Sons. They've headlined Glastonbury in June but had to deal with bassist Ted Dwane's terrifying blood clot health scare that required immediate brain surgery and several cancelled US festival appearances. Dwane rested until Glastonbury Festival when the quartet resolutely took to the stage armed with their banjos, mandolins, guitars, and even a brass section to show the world the Little Lion Men were unstoppable. They played a barn-storming headline slot, blasting their hits with defiance and making the entire Vale of Avalon take notice.

Mumford & Sons
Mumford & Sons Now Back At No.1 After Glastonbury Success.

Such was the success of the Sunday headliners that many in the crowd were converted to Mumford & Sons' distinctive banjo-tickling ways and rushed home to purchase a copy of their most recent album: September 2012's Babel, despite lead single 'I Will Wait' having premiered nearly a year ago. The album has enjoyed 40 weeks in the charts but Mumford's festival success induced a 384% sales increase, propelling the 12-track record up 15 places to the No.1 roost in the week following the festival and beating Michael Bublé's To Be Lovedby just 125 copies, according to The Independent. Their 2009 debut Sigh No More also climbed to the 12th place after their sunny Somerset hoedown.

A Mighty ITunes Festival Line-Up

Kings Of Leon Vampire Weekend Ludovico Einaudi Queens Of The Stone Age Sigur Ros Jessie J Jake Bugg

Since yesterday's (19 June) mega announcement that superstar 'Sex on Fire' rockers Kings Of Leon, had been added to the bill, along with 'A-Punk' New Yorkers Vampire Weekend, there's a palpable excitement in the air as fans apply for tickets and sit tight.

Gone are the old ways of leaping to your laptop at 9 am as tickets go onsale and hitting the refresh button with shaking hands whilst thousands of others do the same in a bizarre battle of the F5 keys. iTunes have revolutionised the festival - instead of making fans shell out hundreds to be treated like medieval peasants, wading through excrement whilst clutching a £5 pint of warm beer - they're holding their month long celebration of sound at the recently refurbished and highly trendy Roundhouse venue in Camden.

There's enough pop acts to make any fan of the mainstream wet themselves, including Jessie J, Justin Timberlake, Jake Bugg and Rizzle Kicks, with an added healthy dosage of big-hitting names in the rock world, such as Paramore, Queens Of The Stone Age, Primal Scream and Kings of Leon.

Emeli Sande To Add An Ivor Novello To Her BRIT Collection?

Emeli Sande Bat For Lashes Jake Bugg Olly Murs Coldplay Plan B Alt-J

Emeli Sande may be adding to her growing list of accolades as she is newly nominated for two different awards at the 58th Ivor Novello awards.

Her UK number 2 hit 'Next To Me' is nominated for Best Song Musically and Lyrically as well as the Most Performed Work award. Competing in the former category is 'Laura' by Bat For Lashes and 'Two Fingers' by Jake Bugg while the latter category also sees nominations from Olly Murs' 'Dance With Me Tonight' and Coldplay's Paradise. Sande has previously received two Urban Music Awards, three BRIT, three MOBO awards and an ECHO Music Award among several others and she's definitely up for a chance in the Ivor Novellos as her nominated track was apparently the third most listened to track of 2012 - a pretty impressive achievement in itself, though not as impressive as the reception her number one debut album 'Our Version of Events' received!

Other artists nominated in two separate categories are Plan B with 'Ill Manors', which is up for Best Contemporary Song and Best Original Film Score, and Alt-J with 'Fitzpleasure' for Best Contemporary Song and 'An Awesome Wave' for Best Album. The awards ceremony will make its way to the Grosvenor House hotel in London later this Spring on May 16th 2013.

Big Players For Balado: T In The Park Announces Rihanna And Mumford And Sons

Rihanna Mumford And Sons Paloma Faith Jake Bugg T In The Park

T In The Park have announced their 2013 headliners and they’ve got some of the biggest players in the world of rock and pop at the top of their bill next year. Both Rihanna and Mumford & Sons – responsible for two of the most significant album releases of 2012 – will be headlining separate days of the festival, which celebrates its 20th birthday. And what a way to celebrate!

Also announced are this year’s Mercury Music Prize winners, Alt-J, everybody’s favourite flame-haired nutcase, Paloma Faith and highly-lauded newcomer Jake Bugg. T in the Park has long been the most significant event in the Scottish festival calendar and its organisers have erred towards the mainstream in more recent years; a move which has clearly paid off and seen crowds flock to the festival in their thousands. On Friday (December 7, 2012), a limited number of tickets will be available at 2012 prices – a move that echoes an announcement from the organisers of Reading and Leeds festivals who are doing the same, in an attempt to secure early business from cash-strapped music fans.

The festival’s director, Geoff Ellis, said “it seems like only yesterday that the first band took to the stage at Strathclyde Park for our inaugural T in the Park in 1994, now here we are in 2012 announcing two of the world's biggest and best acts to headline our 20th edition.” T in the Park 2013 will take place in Balado, Scotland, on July 12 – 14.

Love Spreads: The Stone Roses Announce UK Tour, Fuel Glastonbury Speculation

Stone Roses Primal Scream Jake Bugg The View

The Stone Roses have announced three UK shows for 2013, including two major concerts at London's Finsbury Park on June 7 and 8. Another gig will take place at Glasgow Green on June 15.

Tickets for all three shows go on sale at 9.30am on Friday 2, November and follow the Roses' three-day Heaton Park reunion this summer. According to the Independent, the extravaganza generated around £23 million for the Manchester economy. The UK shows will follow a string of shows in Australia in the spring, including an appearance at the Future music festival. The announcement of UK shows now makes it almost certain The Stone Roses will headline the Glastonbury Festival, which runs from June 28 - 30. Radiohead, The Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac have also been rumoured to headline the festival, though the latter's huge ticket prices for their London shows in November has made it less of a possibility.

Support for The Stone Roses Glasgow shows will come from Primal Scream, Jake Bugg and The View. Support for the London shows is yet to be announced.

UK Album Releases, October 22, 2012: Taylor Swift, Swedish House Mafia, Dappy, Kate Rusby

Taylor Swift Jake Bugg Mumford And Sons Swedish House Mafia Thomas Gold Tinie Tempah Coldplay N-Dubz Dappy Kate Rusby Paul Weller Eddi Reader Radiohead Philip Selway

It’s a mixed bag for UK albums, as the release schedule starts to slow in preparation for the big race for the Christmas sales market. This week, Jake Bugg toppled Mumford & Sons from what looked to be a pretty comfortable reign at the top of the albums chart. But can he stay there for a second week or do any of this week’s releases have what to takes to shift him?

The strongest competition for Jake will be coming from across the pond, in the shape of the fourth studio album from Taylor Swift entitled Red.

She performed on the X Factor results show here last weekend and her last album, 2010’s Speak Now reached number six. Her profile has increased considerably since then, though – thanks in no small part to her contribution to the Hunger Games soundtrack. If anyone can shift Bugg from the top spot, we reckon it’s Taylor.

Jake Bugg - Jake Bugg Album Review

18 year-old Jake Bugg releases his debut later this month, a name and album that has been surf ahoy on the hype waves for a good six months. An abundance of young male singers have forced themselves upon our metaphorical doorsteps over the past couple of years. While Bieber, Maynard and Sheeran may have won chart success and hearts at an early age, their fans make them in to some sort of untouchable mirages as they've been swept into the chart's turbulent clutches.

Jake Bugg - Jake Bugg Album Review

But Jake Bugg stands miles apart from these acts. Everything feels real and simplistic with no ridiculous over-production. His musical demeanor sounds like it's fresh out of a time machine. His voice encompasses a tone that inhabits itself somewhere between an array of musical geniuses from yesteryear like Bob Dylan and The Beatles. As at the same time boasting something semi-modern like the Gallaghers, Miles Kane and the Arctic Monkeys. An intriguing situation that allows an album to have authentic guitar parts, tremendously organic and crackly tones that sit comfortably.

As you listen to the record it becomes clear that boy wonder Jake Bugg is still a normal human being. With songs about sticking 'Two Fingers' up to yesterday and thoughts of leaving the 'Trouble Town', teenage angst smashes it's way through. Towards the end, a sensitive side seems to escape Bugg. With lyrics like 'Someone hold me, I'm done with this game' and 'I want to go someplace and find you there,' proving how he is a typical bewildered adolescent.
