Jake Gyllenhaal wants to get married.

While the 34-year-old actor says he has been in love ''two or three times'' in his life, he revealed he is at the stage where he hopes to finally find a woman to settle down with.

He told Howard Stern on Sirius XM: ''There are a lot of beautiful women and there are opportunities, but ... I believe in monogamy. I believe in, when you meet somebody who's right, it'll be right and you'll stay there.''

'Southpaw' actor Jake didn't disclose who he had been in love with but he has had high-profile long-term relationships with Kirsten Dunst and Reese Witherspoon and a brief fling with Taylor Swift.

All three women have moved on with Kirsten happily dating Garett Hedlund for the past few years, Reese married to CAA agent Jim Toth and Taylor recently finding love with Calvin Harris.

Jake admitted his previous relationships did not work out because he ''got scared''.

He explained: ''I think I probably got scared. But I also think at some point, I think you just decide to grow up.''

Jake also revealed that he can't wait to be a dad someday and holds his sister Maggie's relationship with Peter Sarsgaard up as an ideal.

He said: ''I admire that relationship. They're definitely a standard for me. Based on that, and based on their kids and how great they are with their kids [Ramona, eight and three-year-old Gloria], and how cool it is. You know, to me, I think it's about making a relationship that's cool ... where you're like, I'm psyched to be a dad. This is cool. My sister and her husband make it feel that way.''
