The Brit Awards are coming tonight (February 24th 2016) and so the nominations are up for this year's best British pop acts. James Bay, Years & Years and, predictably enough, Adele lead the pack with four nominations each, while Amy Winehouse gets a posthumous nod in the Best Female Artist category.

After becoming 2015's Brits 'Critics' Choice' award winner with the release of his debut album 'Chaos and the Calm', singer-songwriter James Bay has found himself one to beat at the 2016 ceremony. He's up for British Breakthrough Act, Male Solo Artist, Mastercard's Album Of The Year and British Single with 'Hold Back The River'.

Adele Nominated For Four BRIT Awards


Brit Awards Adele James Bay Years & Years

Adele is poised for another great year at the Brit Awards, securing a total of four nominations following the success of her multi-million selling album 25. She has the joint highest number of nominations for the 2016 awards, alongside James Bay and Years & Years.

The 27 year old’s third album has sold millions of copies around the world already, despite being released less than two months ago, including 2.5 million in the UK. 25 is nominated for Best British Album, while Adele herself is up for Best British Female, Single and Video (both for ‘Hello’).

SXSW 2015 is set to take over Austin, Texas for yet another spectacular event, spanning numerous venues with countless showcases and hundreds of artists. We may be a few weeks away yet, but here's a little taster of some of the best places to be this year.

First up, the Parish is hosting some seminal shows all week, so this should definitely be at the top of your schedule. Wednesday, March 18th sees alt rock Londoners Wolf Alice on the bill, impressing with material from their EP releases; though we are yet to see an album release from these four. Equally, LA newcomers BØRNS are not to be missed, nor are San Diego indie favourites Delta Spirit. Thursday sees The Vaccines promote their upcoming album 'English Graffiti', alongside Palma Violets with 'Danger In The Club', while New York's Lolawolf brings their brand of sensational disco pop to the scene. Friday will be headlined by the Jarman brothers' band The Cribs, and Saturday will see appropriate surf-rock from Florida four-piece Surfer Blood.

Calvin Harris And Kasabian To Headline V Festival 2015

Calvin Harris and Kasabian have been announced as headliners for this year's V Festival. The Scottish DJ and Leicester rockers were head up the bill at Hylands Park and Weston Park and will be joined by Sam Smith, James Bay, Ellie Goulding, The Script, George Ezra, Stereophonics, Olly Murs, Ella Henderson, Kodaline and Cvhrches.

Simon Moran, V Festival director, said: "We wanted to champion British talent at this year's festival and with the likes of Calvin and Kasabian leading the way we don't think it'll disappoint. The eclectic mix of established artists and rising stars, with a few more in the pipeline, means that once again there is something for everyone at V Festival."

Awards season rears its ominous head for another year, with some major ceremonies - in both film and music - having already taken place. We've seen prizes sent out for 2014's films; I.e. Golden Globes, the Critics' Choice Awards, People's Choice Awards, AFI Honours; and now it's time for music, with the BBC Sound of 2015 having already taken place and now The Brits and the Grammys have unveiled their candidates.

Years & Years have topped the BBC Sound Of 2015 list, after making an impact over the course of 2014 supporting the winner of last year's poll Sam Smith on tour and breaking through with singles 'Take Shelter' and 'Desire'.

The London trio have beaten the likes of James Bay, Stormzy, Raury and George The Poet to the top spot as this year's most exciting act as they prepare to unveil yet another single this Spring. The band; who are Olly Alexander, Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Turkmen; formed in 2010 and made their breakthrough in 2012 with single 'I Wish I Knew'. Fast-forward to 2014 and they were quickly becoming one of the UK's top synthpop bands of the day, having appeared on The Magician's hit single 'Sunlight' and touring across the country with Sam Smith and Clean Bandit.

The 24-year-old from Hitchin, Hertfordshire revealed last year that his enjoyment of some of the world's greatest rock bands led him to form various groups himself before finally settling down as a solo act after moving down to Brighton at the tender age of 19. Playing guitar since he was 11-years-old, he's had plenty of experience to weigh up the pros and cons of working in bands and working alone - but why is it he decided going solo was for him?

Years And Years, George The Poet And James Bay Shortlisted For Brit’s Critics Choice Award

The three nominees for this year’s Critics’ Choice award at The Brits have just been announced. Cambridge-educated “urban wordsmith” George The Poet will face off against electropop trio Years And Years and singer songwriter James Bay for the award,  the winner of which will be announced on December 4th.

Last year the award was won by Sam Smith, whose debut album In The Lonely Hour went on to become 2014's best-selling debut. Previous recipients have also included Adele, Jessie J, Florence and the Machine and Emeli Sande.
