Who exactly is the new James Bond director, Cary Joji Fukunaga?
Following the departure of Danny Boyle from the untitled ‘Bond 25’ film, Eon Productions have revealed the name of Cary Joji Fukunaga as the replacement director for Daniel Craig’s final film as 007.
While insiders have been praising the selection, here’s everything you need to know about Fukunaga – and what skills he might bring to the big screen!

Cary Joji Fukunaga is replacing Danny Boyle behind the camera on 'Bond 25', which has been delayed until March 2020.
Studio executives in charge of the James Bond movie franchise have moved quickly to announce Danny Boyle’s replacement for the upcoming 25th film, revealing that Cary Joji Fukunaga will be the new director.
41 year old Fukunaga’s credits include the acclaimed TV series ‘Maniac’ and ‘True Detective’. He’s set to take over the project ahead of a filming start date of March 4th, 2019 at Pinewood Studios.
As expected, Boyle’s departure last month along with his scriptwriter John Hodge means that the release date has had to be pushed back to 2020, with the as-yet-untitled film known as ‘Bond 25’ now set to be released on February 14th.

These legendary figures will forever be a part of screen culture.
It seems that roughly half the movies out there have been based on literary works - that's just the way it's always been. Books have been around for centuries longer than film and television, leaving behind a wealth of iconic characters that have been revisited on both the big and small screen again and again.
Here are seven of our favourite literature-to-film icons:

Boyle's departure, along with that of scriptwriter John Hodge, means 'Bond 25' is now unlikely to meet its production start date of December 2018.
The next James Bond film could be delayed by up to a year, after Danny Boyle stepped down as director earlier this week citing “creative differences” with the studio, taking scriptwriter John Hodge with him.
On Tuesday (August 21st), Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson confirmed in a statement that they had parted company with Boyle, with Hodge later confirming that he was no longer working on the project either.
Now, Variety reports that ‘Bond 25’ is looking for a new writer to come on board as well as a new director. This implies that the script that Boyle and Hodge had been working on is being scrapped and that the studio wants to start again, meaning it’s highly unlikely a new script will be agreed in time for the planned production start date in December.

Elba was apparently teasing us all along, now ruling himself out of the running to be the next 007 after Daniel Craig.
There’s been big changes today in the future of the James Bond movies, with Idris Elba ruling himself out after weeks of recent speculation that he might be the next 007, on the same day it was revealed that Danny Boyle is stepping down as the director of the upcoming film.
Elba, 45, has long been tipped as one of the frontrunners to play Bond after Daniel Craig retires from the role. Rumours about his involvement reached fever pitch once again earlier this month, when it was intimated that Bond boss Barbara Broccoli has said that the time is right for a black actor to portray 007.
However, after a couple of tweets over recent days stirring the pot, Elba has seemingly bowed out of the running for good.

What does the future look like for 'Bond 25'?
Fans everywhere are wondering if they'll see the hugely anticipated 25th James Bond movie by the Fall of 2019 after all, as producers announce a huge shift in direction. Danny Boyle is no longer on board to direct the forthcoming installment of the spy franchise - so who'll replace him?

The 'Trainspotting' director will sadly not be a part of the new project according to a Twitter post from the official 007 account yesterday (August 21st 2018), though there has been no news yet on who could possibly takeover. All we know is that he's had some clashing ideas with long-time Bond producers.
Brosnan, who played 007 four times from 1995-2002, believes the franchise has become too dark under Daniel Craig's stewardship.
65 year old Brosnan, who starred in four of the franchise’s films, last played 007 in 2002’s Die Another Day. Since then, Daniel Craig has overseen a revival in the series’ credibility and commercial fortunes, but his predecessor told The Rake that he had concerns about the direction the Bond films had taken.
“I knew there had been a seismic shift, and little did I know I was going to be part of that in the curtain falling on my contract,” Brosnan explained, adding that it was down to the rise in more serious spy films like The Bourne Identity, which was released the same year as his final James Bond movie.
They will reunite for the 25th film in the James Bond franchise.
It's been confirmed that Danny Boyle will join spy movie royalty as he is announced to direct the forthcoming James Bond movie, currently under the working title of 'Bond 25'. It marks his first reunion with star Daniel Craig since their 2012 Olympics short movie, and thus is makes for an appropriate pairing.
Danny Boyle at the 'Battle of the Sexes' premiere
The 25th Bond film is an important point in film history, and speculation about who will direct and who will portray the legendary British spy has been rife since the release of the last movie 'Spectre' in 2015. Now we know that Daniel Craig has at least one more movie in him, and the introduction of Danny Boyle at the helm is certainly most exciting.

Boyle has emerged as a frontrunner to direct 'Bond 25'.
After what felt like years of speculation as to the identity of the next 007, only for it to revert to Daniel Craig for a final time after he had consistently said that he would never play the role again, the rumour mill has turned to who’ll be on the other side of the camera.
Late last year, it was reported that Denis Villeneuve, who directed the long-awaited Blade Runner sequel in 2017, was the desired choice by MGM and Eon to take charge of the 25th Bond film. However, Villeneuve said that while it would be “a pleasure”, he is focussing on his “dream project” Dune, the movie adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi book of the same name.
