Bosses At The Company Which Holds The Rights To The James Bond Films, Danjaq, And Metro-goldwyn-mayer Studios Are Dismissing Reports A Musical About The Superspy Is In The Works.
Merry Saltzman, the daughter of franchise producer Harry Saltzman, told Playbill.com earlier this month (Jul15) she was developing James Bond: The Musical to premiere in either Las Vegas or New York, but executives at Danjaq are disputing her claims, insisting the family of co-producer Albert Broccoli have not issued any rights to Saltzman.
A statement from representatives at the companies and the Broccoli family reads: "Danjaq LLC and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc confirm they have not licensed any rights to Merry Saltzman or her production company to create a James Bond musical.
"Danjaq and MGM jointly control all live stage rights in the Bond franchise, and therefore no James Bond stage show may be produced without their permission."
Meanwhile, Daniel Craig is set to reprise his role as 007 in new movie Spectre, which is due for release later this year (15).
