Terminator 2: Judgment Day Clips Trailer

Terminator 2: Judgment Day was one of the best movies of the 90's and even still holds its own on many movie best-of lists. The classic film has now been remastered and it will be released in 3D.

The movie follows on from the original Terminator movie (released in 1984) and follows the life of a teenage boy called John Connor. John has been placed in foster care since his mother is detained in a mental institute. John's mother, Sarah, has trained John since a young age to be ready for the day when he leads a resistance force against a powerful company called Skynet - this is a story John began to believe but as he got older and his mother was eventually arrested, came to distrust his mom's word. However, when John finds himself being chased by a cop with incredible speed and strength, John begins to realise that perhaps someone is trying to kill him after all. The cop turns out to be a polyalloy cyborg called T-1000 who's been sent to earth to track down John and kill him to stop him fulfilling his destiny.

To protect John, the future version of himself sent another cyborg back in time to protect him. This cyborg is a T-800 and isn't as capable of shapeshifting (like T-1000) but is programmed to go to any lengths to save the boy. In order for John to understand the stories his mother had always told him, he commands T-800 to help him break his mom out of the secure mental wing. Now the two humans and cyborg are put against the clock on a mission to stop Skynet from ever progressing while also being constantly chased by T-1000.

James Cameron

The sequel to all-time 2009 box office hit Avatar has hit the skids - again - with director James Cameron revealing Avatar 2, 3, 4 and 5 will not be surfacing in 2018. The Titanic movie maker is undertaking four sequels altogether and has previously described the undertaking as an "epic undertaking".

James Cameron Juggling Four Screenplays For Three Avatar Sequels

James Cameron James Horner

After it became the highest grossing movie of all time, director James Cameron decided that he was going to devote himself to making nothing except sequels to Avatar for the rest of the 2010s. Now, it seems that he might have put himself in a spot of bother by writing too much material.

Composer James Horner, who worked with Cameron on the first Avatar movie in 2009 as well as on Aliens and Titanic, told film website HeyUGuys.com that the director is trying to condense screenplays for four sequels into three so he can fit them into the planned release schedule.

Sigourney Weaver will appear as her Avatar character Grace Augustine in each of James Cameron's three sequels, despite having been killed in the first movie. The 64 year-old film star first hinted in September 2012 that she'd be making a return to the hugely successful franchise but has now been confirmed to be starring in all of the quadrilogy.

"Jim says no one ever dies in science fiction," she told ComingSoon.net at the time. "He's told me the stories for the next two movies, and I have to say that they're absolutely wonderful and there's a real treat in store. Now we just have to make them."

"Sigourney and I have a long creative history, dating back to 1985 when we made Aliens," said the Cameron. "We're good friends who've always worked well together, so it just feels right that she's coming back for the Avatar sequels."

Sigourney Weaver’s character may have expired in James Cameron’s smash hit, but that doesn’t mean she can’t – in the universe of Avatar – return in a different role.

The 'Avatar' Sequels: Everything You Need To Know

James Cameron Sam Worthington Zoe Saldana

All has been fairly quiet on the Avatar sequels front lately, so we thought we’d do a bit of investigating to unearth what information is available to us.  We're nosy like that.

Director James Cameron has admitted they are still in the early stages of production, “Right now we’re developing the software. I’m writing the scripts. We’re designing all the creatures and characters and the settings, an so on.” While he didn’t exactly blow us away with a ton of new details, he did give a little away about what we can expect from the coming movies, “I think it’s going to be spectacular. You’ll see new worlds, new habitats, new cultures.” Hopefully that means that we’ll get to travel a little more around Pandora, and see what else the world has to offer.

Emilia Clarke Cast As Sarah Connor For 'Terminator' Reboot

Emilia Clarke Arnold Schwarzenegger James Cameron Alan Taylor

That's right, there's going to be a remake of James Cameron's timeless 1984 sci-fi The Terminator. An inevitability considering how popular the series remains to this day, but one that no-one wanted nonetheless. On the bright side, Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clark has just been cast as Sarah Connor, so at least the eye candy has been sorted out with.

This marks Clarke's first movie into a movie franchise

The British beauty was announced as the female lead for the Paramount, Skydance and Annapurna-led reboot of the Skynet and cyborg-fighting film series, with Variety being the first to confirm her appointment. The Variety report goes on to state that Clarke tested alongside Brie Larson for the role, but Clarke managed to edge ahead of the 21 Jump Street actress in the screen tests. Supposedly, Margot Robbie was also in contention for the role, but never auditioned.

Step Into Pandora With Disney As The New 'Avatar World' Comes To Life [Pictures]

James Cameron

The world of Avatar took years to fully imagine for director James Cameron. Pandora is a rich, vibrant land, with its own eco-structure, cultural countries and politics, and it’ll continue to be as the blockbuster craftsman plans three new movies set in the same universe.

But, as pictures released today show on the Disney blog, Pandora is slowly but surely turning into something altogether more tangible. Avatar Land – after significant delays – is on the way. “From the moment AVATAR was released, people were captivated by the mythical world of Pandora,” said Tom Staggs, Chairman, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

Avatar That! James Cameron To Navi-gate Lawsuit As Artist Roger Dean Sues Him

James Cameron

James Cameron is facing a litigation from the artist Roger Dean, who claims the filmmaker of "wilful and deliberate copying, dissemination and exploitation" of his original images. He is being sued for $50m, according to The BBC.

James CameronCould Cameron end up $50m out of pocket?

Avatar, which was nominated for a whopping nine Oscars, is the highest-grossing film of all time, and has previously been criticised for copying the story of Pocahontas. Criticised, though, and not sued; this time, the allegations of copying reference the art style, something that Dean believes he created.

James Cameron's Avatar 2 Team Investigate New Underwater Filming Techniques

James Cameron Jon Landau

Never one to shirk from a challenge, James Cameron and his team of adventurous film-makers have been working out ways in which they can perfect the underwater scenes that they have planned for the highly-anticipated sequel to Avatar. Jon Landau, the Oscar winning producer explained their plans, at the recent NAB Technology Summit, The Hollywood Reporter reveal: “We have kept a team of digital artists on from Avatar in order to test how we can create performance capture underwater. We could simulate water [in computer graphics], but we can't simulate the actor's experience, so we are going to capture performance in a tank.”

Since the Hobbit was filmed at 48 frames per second, rather than the standard 24, Landau addressed whether or not the Avatar team would adopt a similar approach. Although the method is being explored, they have not yet decided on whether or not they’ll adopt it. “We want to take advantage of the technology that people are putting out there to make the next two movies more engaging and visually tantalizing, and wrap up the story arc of our two main characters… Nobody should dictate to a filmmaker whether they should make films at 24, 48 or 60fps since the technology now exists and can be presented with the same cinema equipment.”

Landau also dismissed the rumors that Cameron’s 2012 dive to the Challenger Deep had anything to do with the making of a new Avatar movie. “He is an explorer. … Yes they filmed. It had nothing to do with Avatar.”

James Cameron's To Take On 'The Informationist' After Avatar

James Cameron

James Cameron will direct The Informationist, once he's done and dusted with the Avatar franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Informationist, a novel by Taylor Stevens, tells the story of Vanessa Munroe - a woman born in central Africa who spent her teenage years as a protege of gunners and mercenaries. Cameron will produce the project with his Lightstorm partner Jon Landau. "This was an opportunity to continue our relationship with Fox and Jim Gianopulos beyond the Avatar films," Landau said in a statement to THR. "We were drawn to this book because of the terrific, compelling narrative and the character, who typifies the strong female protagonists that have inhabited Jim's work. In this case, Vanessa Munroe is essentially a mix of Lisbeth Salander and Jason Bourne." Cameron, one of film's goliaths, said this: "Taylor Stevens' Vanessa Michael Munroe is an intriguing and compelling heroine with an agile mind and a thirst for adventure. Equally fascinating for me is her emotional life and her unexpected love story."

Cameron is responsible for the two top grossing films of all time, with Titanic and Avatar, and is showing no signs of relenting by adding this latest project to his ever growing to do list. Avatar 2 is currently dominating his mind, though, as the Box Office looks forward to another Cameron money hoover.

Ang Lee's 'Life Of Pi' Premieres At New York Film Festival

Ang Lee James Cameron Gerard Depardieu Irrfan Khan

Academy Award winner Ang Lee hit the red carpet on the opening night of the New York Film Festival on Friday night, kick starting the film fest with his latest film, The Life of Pi.

The film, based upon the Yann Martel novel of the same name, explores the life of an India boy named Pi who spends 227 days at sea with his only company being a Bengal tiger, spotted hyena, a zebra and an orang-utan, after becoming shipwreck in the Pacific Ocean. The book, often considered to be un-filmable, explores deep strands of spiritual understanding and reason; something that Ang has tried to recreate on the screen. The film has been a massive undertaking and was shot entirely in 3D as director Lee believed that this method was the only way in which the vibrancy of the novel could be fully expressed on screen. It is thought to have cost up to $100million and took close to four years to make.

Speaking to reporters at the premier, Lee said that he had envisaged the project as soon as he read it back in 2001 and allegedly already agreed to make the film in 3D before James Cameron's Avatar was released in 2009.

Titanic (1997) Review

Excellent
So here I am, newly engaged, and the subject of honeymoons comes up. I hate the sun, and I don't like flying, so naturally, I say: Cruise! How about Alaska? This is the best idea we've come up with so far... and then we go to see Titanic.

Well, I can't think of anything that would change my mind faster than the sight of 1500 ice-covered dead bodies, bobbing up and down in the ocean, after the sinking of a luxury liner. Let's jump right on the boat, huh?

Strange Days Review

Good
I've never really given much thought to what the turn of the millennium is going to bring. Will it be a new beginning for society and the world? Or will it bring on the apocalypse foretold by Revelations?

Strange Days continuously plays these two possibilities off of each other, and in L.A., on December 31, 1999, it seems either one is equally likely. Ralph Fiennes plays Lenny Nero, a bottom-feeder ex-cop who peddles "clips," full-sensory pieces of memory from real people's lives. These clips are played on "the wire," a device which delivers experiences directly into the brain. The very illegal wire is also the source of a whole slew of problems, including the murder of one Jeriko One, a very influential rap star, and the subsequent stalking of Faith (Juliette Lewis), Nero's ex-girlfriend, for whom he still pines.

The Cutting Edge: The Magic Of Movie Editing Review

Very Good
While "magic" may be a little strong, The Cutting Edge: The Magic of Movie Editing is a surprisingly interesting film. If you're a filmmaker or an aspiring critic, it may well be essential viewing.

This documentary is precisely what it's title purports to be, an in-depth and instructive look at movie editing that literally spans 100 years of film history, from The Great Train Robbery to Cold Mountain. Through interviews with a copious number of directors and editors, The Cutting Edge covers everything from basic editing techniques like the matching of cuts to modern editing theory as inspired by MTV and The Matrix. The film goes into extreme detail in parts, like when we get to see James Cameron's trick of removing one frame per second out of Terminator 2 to give it more momentum and realism. It's all a little bit insidery and self-congratulatory, but the movie works far more often than not. Any film buff will find it hard not to like.
