Corden takes over from long running host Craig Ferguson this Monday (March 23rd).
British funnyman James Corden is about to take the biggest leap of his career, as he assumes the host’s chair on 'The Late Late Show', taking over from the departing Craig Ferguson. While the 36 year old might not be a household name in the US, back in the UK Corden has been providing laughs for over a decade now. But what does America need to know about James Corden?

1. 'Gavin and Stacey'
If you’re looking to get a real taste of all Corden’s talents, look no further than British comedy ‘Gavin and Stacey’, which ran on the BBC for three seasons between 2007-2010. Corden wrote the series alongside Ruth Jones and stars as Smithy, the best friend of Essex-boy Gavin who falls for Stacy, a girl form a small Welsh village. The series was a hit with both audiences and critics, as well as earning numerous awards including a BAFTA for Corden.

2. He has big time hosting experience
Corden has hosted the Brit Awards three times (four if you count his 2009 appearance with Matthew Horne and Kylie Minogue), so he’s no stranger to big presenting gigs. His 2012 stint as host was notable for an incident involving singer Adele, where Corden was forced to interrupt the award winner’s acceptance speech, causing her to flip the bird on national television. Speaking about the controversy Corden later said, "I don't understand what happened but I'm upset about it. Blur get to play for 11 minutes and [Adele] gets to say thank you once”.
3. He’s also forging a movie career
Aside from his small screen accomplishments, Corden is also breaking out on the big screen, thanks to a role in musical Into The Woods last year. The actor will next be seen in British dark-comedy-thriller Kill Your Friends alongside Nicholas Hoult and The Lady in the Van starring Dame Maggie Smith.
4. And treaded the boards
Corden also has an impressive theatre resume to his name, having performed in both London’s West End and on Broadway. In 2006 he starred in the original London stage production of Alan Bennett's The History Boys, which he also performed in on Broadway, He then won the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play in 2012, for his role in One Man, Two Guvnors on Broadway.

5. He’s a family man
Corden married charity worker Julia Carey in September 2012 and the couple are parents to son Max, born in 2011 and daughter Carey, born in October 2014. The family have recently relocated from London to Los Angeles as James prepares for his big ‘Late Late Show’ gig.
