The film is set in a secret world inside smartphones’ messaging apps called Textopolis, where all emojis live, hoping to be selected by the phone’s user.

All the emojis who live there only have one facial expression, except for Gene (Miller), who is described as ‘an exuberant emoji who was born without a filter and bursting with multiple expressions’.
Gene’s desire to become “normal” like the other emojis, leads him and his best friend Hi-5 (Corden) and the notorious codebreaker emoji Jailbreak (Glazer) to go on an adventure to try and ‘fix’ him.
Together, the trio will travel through the most popular and universally recognised smartphone apps to find a code that will fix Gene. But on their way they encounter a greater danger that threatens to delete their world forever.
The film is being produced by Michelle Raimo Kouyate and is set for release in theatres on Aug. 11, 2017.
