James Corden thinks Zayn Malik is irreplaceable in One Direction.

The 'The Late Late Show...' host thinks 1D are right to continue as a four-piece in the wake of Zayn's departure from the boy band as it wouldn't be right to add a new fifth member.

But Corden firmly believes the pop group have a ''rich'' future together as a foursome.

Talking on the red carpet at the British Television Academy Awards at London's Theatre Royal, the 36-year-old TV personality said: ''No one can replace Zayn, it's about the four of them and they have a very rich and brilliant future ahead of them.''

The former 'Gavin & Stacey' star is going to be the first person to interview all of One Direction - Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan - since Zayn left in March.

When asked if he was nervous about the interview on his US talk show, he said: ''I'm not nervous, I saw them on Friday ... And I'm seeing them tomorrow, we're filming a skit so it's all good.''

On whether he was looking forward to speaking with the 'Steal My Girl' hitmakers, he told ITN: ''It's going to be great. I consider them friends, so I just hope we make a fun hour of TV.''

Corden jetted in from US especially for the BAFTAs on Sunday (10.05.15) and flew back this morning (11.05.15).

Talking to the BBC, he said: ''I'm on the aeroplane longer than I am in London.''

One Direction will be on 'The Late Late Show with James Corden' on 14 May.
