You nearly had us there, James Franco! This actor has sent rumours flying around after unveiling a tattoo of Emma Watson's FACE on his NECK. Needless to say, it wasn't actually real; merely a startlingly elaborate Photoshop job from artist Cheyenne Randall. Though it did get us thinking about all the real tats celebs have gotten over the years.

Aside from all the ex-lovers' names (of which, let's face it, there are too many to count), body art on celebrities is often questionable. So we've compiled a list of just a few of the tattoos that have made us go 'WTF?!' over the years. In no particular order...

Ed Sheeran's chest lion: This one certainly divided opinion. A huge lion's face right across the 'Thinking Out Loud' singer's chest made many a fan wince in horror - despite the fact that it's actually a good bit of art as it stands. He got the England football mascot tattoo in tribute to his sell-out Wembley shows earlier this year, but Sheeran was exasperated by the negative response. 'All this kerfuffle over a tattoo. If it was black and white saying a clever phrase in a language I can't speak no one would've said anything', he said on Twitter. 'It's not the first weird tattoo I've got and it won't be the last, but I like all of them.'

Halfway and ouch

Cheryl Cole's back roses: An understatement actually as the design actually covers her entire lower back, her bottom and spreads to her thighs. The design was by the very talented Nikko Hurtado, but nonetheless, people were shocked with the sheer size of it; none more so than her Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding who branded it 'ridiculous'.

Mike Tyson's face tattoo: Probably one of the most iconic tats in celeb history, this former heavyweight boxing champion got his face inked in 2003, not long before he filed for bankruptcy. He's been involved in various controversies over the years so it's hardly a shocker, but we can't quite imagine him without it now.

Johnny Depp's 'Wino Forever' ink: Johnny Depp has 'Wino Forever' inked on a flag in his right upper arm. This is just two bad choices in one; originally it was 'Winona Forever', while he was dating 'Edward Scissorhands' co-star Winona Ryder, but he later had part of it erased to that it was merely associated with his love of booze. Luckily, it's hardly ever on show since he always seems to be photographed in long sleeves.

Miley Cyrus' Floyd ribs: The 'Wrecking Ball' singer was inconsolable following the death of her Siberian Husky Floyd. Thus, she decided to get a pretty amateur-ish outline of his face on her side, alongside the caption 'With a Little Help from My Fwends' in reference to The Flaming Lips album on which she appeared as a guest. Not that there's anything wrong with getting a tattoo for your pets, it's just so terribly done - especially when you consider the high calibre of artists that are available in LA.

Chris Brown's controversial neck: In 2012, Brown unveiled a new tattoo on his neck that appeared to be of a mutilated woman's face. There was instant uproar, with many claiming that it was based on the highly publicized image of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna's beaten face after their infamous domestic bust-up back in 2009. Brown denied the suggestion, of course, but the fact remains that the images are uncannily alike.

Cara Delevingne's sole bacon: The London model is rather strange it has to be said, but she's always been open about her love of bacon. And if you love something, you sure as hell have to imprint it on your body permanently, right? It's on the bottom of her foot though, so it's hardly a big deal. She also has 'Made In England' on her other foot. Go figure.

Amanda Seyfried's foot minge: Not being British, Seyfried was deeply amused by Colin Firth's use of the word on the set of 'Dear John', never having heard it before. When BFF Rachel McDowell revealed what it meant, she decided to get it inked in the side of her foot. That's right. She got 'minge' tattooed on her foot AFTER finding out what it meant. Wow.

BONUS!

Justin Bieber's patient neck: Biebs has an ironic message etched on his neck: 'patience'. This popstar obviously didn't look in a mirror before coming out on stage in Oslo on Sunday (October 25th 2015). Otherwise, he would've been reminded of this virtue before storming off after just one song when fans 'would not listen' to him.
