Chameleon James Franco Turns To Television With Ovation's '...Presents'

Arguably the busiest star in Hollywood, James Franco doesn't necessarily concern himself one type of medium. He does movies, he writes book, he teaches, and now he does television.

The prolific actor is to star and executive producer a new unscripted series for cable channel Ovation in which he'll explore his various artistic pursuits and passions. Contracted for ten hour long episodes, 'James Franco Presents' will premiere in November.

The actor had dropped hints about his foray into television on Tuesday, posting unusual artwork on his Twitter and Instagram accounts before announcing the news 24 hours later.

According to Variety, '.Presents' will allow fans of the actor to get a glimpse into his work as a college professor, and his latest art exhibitions. It will also include the highlights of hundreds of hours of video that Franco has shot over the past few years, as well as some of his experimental short films.

Ovation's CCO Robert Weiss called the show an "anthology docuseries," saying, "The show sees the word of art through James' eyes.All the different exploits that James is involved in, this show encompasses."

The show is certainly a coup for Ovation, a small independent arts-and-entertainment cable network beamed to 50 million homes across the U.S.

"This series with James Franco is the biggest series to ever be on Ovation," added Weiss.

It also marks a full circle turn for Franco, who began his career with a breakthrough role on the NBC dramedy 'Freaks & Geeks' which went out in 1999. Since then, he's hosted the Oscars, starred on Saturday Night Live and General Hospital and starred in the Oscar nominated movie 127 Hours.
