'X-Men: Apocalypse' will feature the cast of 'X-Men: First Class'.

While next year's eagerly anticipated 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' will boast an all-star cast including actors from the 2011 prequel film and actors from the original 'X-Men' trilogy, the recently announced 2016 follow-up will solely feature the prequel cast, according to Vulture.

The younger prequel cast consists of James McAvoy as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique and Nicholas Hoult as the Beast.

'Days of Future Past' director Bryan Singer is set to direct the film following his return to the director's chair for next year's blockbuster movie.

McAvoy, Fassbender, Lawrence and Hoult will all reprise their roles in 'Days of Future Past' but they will be joined by the stars of the earlier 'X-Men' movies - which were released between 2000 and 2006 - including Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen as the elder Professor X and Magneto, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Halle Berry as Storm.

However, due to the science fiction nature of the franchise, cameo appearances from the older cast haven't been ruled out.

It's expected that next year's 'X-Men' flick - which is reportedly 20th Century Fox's most expensive movie in history, except 'Avatar' - will feature a tease for the 2016 sequel during the end credits.

'X-Men: Apocalypse' is due for release in May 2016, following 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' in May 2014.
