Actor James Van Der Beek has cast doubt on rumours of a Dawson's Creek reunion movie, blaming the media for raising fans' hopes even though "nobody's producing it" and "nobody's writing it".
The star made his name as geeky Dawson Leery in the beloved teen TV series, which also turned a young Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams and Joshua Jackson into celebrities.
The programme came to an end in 2003, but Van Der Beek admits he is always being quizzed about reprising his most famous role to date.
And while he has previously voiced his interest in returning to Dawson's Creek, he insists show bosses don't appear to be as keen to revive the series for a TV movie.
During an appearance on U.S. morning show Live! With Kelly on Wednesday (25Apr12), he said, "I feel it's the number one question we all get asked. Nobody's producing it, nobody's writing it, it's just something that comes up in press and Michelle Williams is always like, 'Absolutely!' But I think that's because her character's dead!"
Williams played bad girl Jen Lindley on the show. The character died at the age of 25 in the series finale.
