A Couple Living In The House Which Inspired The Conjuring Is Suing Director James Wan Over Claims They Have Been Besieged By Intruders.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga starred in the 2013 horror as paranormal investigators who visit a farmhouse to explore ghostly goings on, and the film is said to be based on the true story of a haunted home in Rhode Island.
Norma Sutcliffe and Gerald Helfrich, who own the spooky property, claim they have been targeted by a number of nosy trespassers since the release, and they are seeking unspecified damages from Wan and Warner Bros. executives for the disturbance.
In the lawsuit, obtained by EW.com, they claim they have suffered "threats of physical violence and harm, sleepless nights, and worry that one day, one of the many trespassers will commit an act of destruction, violence, or harm."
Sutcliffe and Helfrich, who bought the house in 1987, also complain they were not notified about the film's release.
