Furious 7 Filmmaker James Wan Has Been Tapped To Take Charge Of The Forthcoming Superhero Movie Aquaman.
Former Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa will portray the DC Comics character, the ruler of the underwater kingdom Atlantis, and now the Warner Bros. project has found its director in Wan.
A statement issued by Warner Bros. boss Greg Silverman reads: "The Aquaman film will be a major tentpole picture for us and James’s span of work has proven him able to take on any manner of project, bringing his incredible creative talent and unique voice to the material."
Zack Snyder will serve as producer on Aquaman, which is scheduled for release in 2018.
Fans will get a glimpse of Momoa as the superhero in Snyder's upcoming Man of Steel sequel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which will hit movie theatres next year (16).
Aquaman isn't the only big project Wan will be working on - he has also been hired by Sony Pictures executives to direct the film adaptation of classic anime series Robotech.
