The Sun have published some of the first shots of Jamie Foxx in the new Spider-Man movie. He might be trying to hide his identity under a large hood and his skin may be painted light blue but we’d recognise that face anywhere, regardless. Foxx takes on the role of Electro in the new movie, which is due out in 2014 and will feature Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield once again, as Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker / Spider-Man.
Speaking about his character previously, Foxx has explained that Electro develops an unhealthy obsession with Spider-Man. “He’s cutting out Spider-Man’s face and pasting it on all his boards… then everything goes bad with his mom. She doesn’t remember his birthday. He has something tragic happen and, when it turns on, he lights it up." This is the first time that Electro has appeared in the Spider-Man movie franchise and it looks as though he’ll be getting something of a wardrobe revamp to update his look a little. It’s expected that the original yellow and green outfit that he wears in the comic will not feature in the movie; it’s thought that his costume may be purple instead.
Foxx explained “The producers want something for the future. They want to have it more grounded and not as comic book-y, so it won’t be green and yellow. They want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down... How did he become this way? So, it will be some new stuff.”
