Janet Jackson will wear custom-made Giuseppe Zanotti trainers on her upcoming tour.

The 49-year-old singer is currently preparing for her Unbreakable World Tour, which kicks off in Vancouver on August 31, and she has asked the designer to create the footwear for her performances.

He said in a statement: ''I am thrilled to have been asked by Janet to create the shoes for her tour. She has been a great friend for many years, and I have the utmost respect for her as one of the most iconic and outstanding artists and style icons of our time.''

The custom-made shoes will match Janet's outfits and go on sale to the general public later this year.

Janet announced plans for her comeback tour in June.

After kicking off the first leg of her tour in Vancouver, she has 36 North American tour dates stretching through until November, although the star has hinted further shows around the world are yet to be announced.

The string of shows have been scheduled in support of her forthcoming 11th studio LP, tentatively titled 'Unbreakable'.

The musical icon - who has sold more than 160 million records worldwide - last toured North America with her 'Number Ones' greatest hits show in 2011.
