Janet Jackson Was Left In Awe On Sunday Night (01nov15) After The Mayor Of Minneapolis, Minnesota Dedicated The Day To The Superstar.
The All For You singer returned to the city where she first met longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis over the weekend (31Oct-01Nov15), and expressed her excitement during the tour stop by sharing a rare photo of herself and her husband, Wissam Al Mana, on Instagram.
"Feels so good to be home My baby and me (sic)!" she captioned the snap.
Janet recorded her classic Control and Rhythm Nation 1814 albums in Minneapolis and towards the end of her Unbreakable World Tour concert at the Target Center, she was surprised with a visit from Mayor Betsy Hodges, who declared 1 November Janet Jackson Day.
After Mayor Hodges read out a long list of the singer's accomplishments, the stunned star told the crowd, "Thank you so much. I love you."
The dedication emerges weeks after Janet scored her her seventh U.S. number one with Unbreakable, the follow up to 2008's Discipline. Only Barbra Streisand and Madonna have more chart-toppers for a female artist, with 10 and eight, respectively. The feat also made Janet only the third artist in Billboard history to score a number one in each of the last four decades; Barbra and Bruce Springsteen are the other two musicians.
