Mad Men actress January Jones has joined Will Forte's single-camer comedy series Last Man On Earth, at Fox. Jones will appear opposite star and creator Forte, as well as Mel Rodriguez, Kristen Schaal an Cleopatrea Coleman in the straight-to-series project.

Last Man on Earth chronicles the life of an average guy (Forte) who discovers what life is like when nobody is telling you what you can, and cannot do. Oh, and he also happens to be humanity's last hope.

Jones - best known for playing Betty Draper/Francis on AMC's monster hit - will portray a beautiful, intelligent and athletic girl named Melissa - a Midwesterner with a girl-next-door personality and a devotion to her hometown professional sports team.

Rodriguez will play the optimistic Todd, while Coleman will play a first-year med student named Erica. Schaal - best known for Flight of the Conchords - plays Carol.

The Last Man on Earth is actually one of the most promising TV comedies in a long, long time. Not only does it have Forte's comedy pedigree - it also has the directorial talents of Chris Miller and Phil Lord who did such an exceptional job of The Lego Movie and 22 Jump Street.

The first and second episodes of The Last Man on Earth will debut on Sunday, March 1 at 9 p.m., with a regular timeslot set by Fox for Sundays at 9:30 p.m. 

Jones will return as Betty in the final seven episodes of Men Mad in 2015. The first half of season 7 concluded with Don receiving a letter stating that he was being fired for breach of contract. It was set in the days leading up to the first moon landing on July 20, 1969.
