Leto’s turn as the green haired villain was highly anticipated by fans, but the film’s final cut left them wanting more.
Suicide Squad actor Jared Leto is just as disappointed as fans are about The Joker’s lack of screen time in the comic book movie. Despite being heavily featured in the film’s trailers, Leto’s Joker doesn’t appear much in the actual movie, with a lot of his scenes being left on the cutting room floor.
Jared Leto as Suicide Squad’s Joker
When asked by IGN if he was upset about any of his scenes getting cut, the actor responded: “Were there any that didn’t get cut? I’m asking you, were there any that didn’t get cut? There were so many scenes that got cut from the movie, I couldn’t even start.
“I think that the Joker… we did a lot of experimentation on the set, we explored a lot. There’s so much that we shot that’s not in the film,” he added. “If I die anytime soon, it’s probably likely that it’ll surface somewhere. That’s the good news about the death of an actor is all that stuff seems to come out.”

Leto’s lack of screen time also caused him to try and distance himself from the film’s negative reviews during an interview with NME last week. "I've heard that there's been a very mixed response,” he told the magazine.
“It's easy to hear that, but I haven't seen the film and I'm in the film so little that that really has not very much to do with me and what I'm doing now and talking and sharing the film. We shot so much footage, there are so many scenes that are not in the film.”
"I haven't seen the movie yet so I don't know exactly what's been cut out or not, but I do understand it's a bit of an introduction to the Joker, it's a bit more of a supporting part than maybe it could have been if they had used everything. But they have a method to their madness.”
Despite the film’s negative reviews Suicide Squad managed to defy the critics by taking $135.1 million in the US on its opening weekend, breaking August box office records. It did however suffer a substantial drop between Friday and Saturday, with numbers falling by 41 per cent, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
