Jason Donovan leaves the responsibility of cooking Christmas dinner to his wife.

The 45-year-old actor, who stars as Parson Nathaniel in Jeff Wayne's musical take on 'The War of the Worlds,' has confessed that he doesn't get involved in cooking the traditional Christmas turkey.

He told exclusively BANG Showbiz: ''I don't have the patience for it [cooking], I've got too many other things to worry about.''

Although Jason won't be spending much time in the kitchen, he is looking forward to having some much-needed time off.

He said: ''It's always nice to throw a log on the fire, talk and spend some down time with the kids rather than me sort of thinking about work and stuff like that.''

Jason has three children with his wife Angela Malloch - 13-year-old Jemma, 11-year-old Zach and two-year-old Molly - and he admits that his excitement doesn't always match theirs on Christmas morning.

He said: ''I've got a young two-year-old so you know, it's normally a very early wake-up-call on Christmas day which slightly gets me annoyed because we don't get to bed 'til late.''

The 'Too Many Broken Hearts' singer won't be jumping on the bandwagon by making any outlandish New Year's resolutions for 2014.

Jason said: ''I'm always making resolutions, I'm trying to always improve my ability to stay on this planet for as long as I can.''
