Jason Segel Is Reportedly Set To Play David Foster Wallace In A Biopic.

The novel, which was written in 2010 by the Rolling Stone journalist, detailed Lipsky's road trip with the author as Wallace toured America promoting his new book, Infinite Jest. The biopic will see How I Met Your Mother actor Segel take the lead role whilst The Social Network's Jesse Eisenberg is set to play Lipsky, according to The Wrap.

Though it has been noted that the author, who committed suicide in 2008, shared similar physical characteristics with Segel, some Wallace fans have reacting with disappointment upon the early biopic casting news, perhaps related to Segel's perceived background as a comedy actor.

Born in Ithaca, Wallace published his first novel, The Broom of the System, in 1987 to critical praise. He carved a career out of writing novels, non-fiction works and short stories, as well as holding several brief teaching posts at universities.

However, Wallace had suffered with depression for nearly half of his life when he died at age 46, and had been taking antidepressants for some time. When Wallace hanged himself in September 2008, he left a suicide note and the manuscript of his final novel, The Pale King, which was eventually released in 2011.

The Role Will Be A Test Of Segel's Diversity As An Actor.

The biopic, set to be titled The End of the Tour, is written by Pulitzer-winning and Tony-nominated playwright Donald Margulies, and directed by The Spectacular Now's James Ponsoldt.

The End of the Tour will hopefully do justice to the memory of one of America's most celebrated literary voices.
