Last week, the Hollywood power couple gave their backing, along with Pablo Almodover and other luminaries of the Spanish entertainment industry to the letter, which denounced Israel’s actions in Gaza and the resulting civilian casualties as “genocide”. In the following days, Cruz and Bardem each released a statement, clarifying their intentions.

These Celebrity Doppelgängers Prove The Existence Of A Celebrity Factory

Javier Bardem Jeffrey Dean Morgan Penelope Cruz Paz Vega Amber Heard Scarlett Johansson Leighton Meester Minka Kelly Tom Hardy Logan Marshall-Green Katy Perry

We’re starting to suspect that there’s only a handful of famous people, but that they each just have a few different aliases. We’ve never been able to put our finger on it until recently, but some of these celebs look far too similar to be different people. We’re considering a theory that there is a celebrity factory and they only have a few different molds to work with.

Paz Vega doppelganger Paz Vega or Penelope Cruz?  We just can't work it out!

Take Penelope Cruz and Paz Vega for example. It’s hard to believe that these two aren’t at least a little bit related. We only realised recently that it’s Paz starring alongside Adam Sandler in Spanglish and not Penelope.

The Counselor Review

OK

This film proves that all the right ingredients don't necessarily make a movie work. Even with top-drawer filmmakers and actors, this dramatic thriller simply never grabs our interest. It looks great, and everyone is giving it their all, but the story and characters remain so badly undefined that we can't identify with either.

The story's set on the US-Mexico border, where a slick lawyer (Fassbender) known as "the Counsellor" has slightly too much going on in his life. He has just proposed to his dream woman Laura (Cruz), while he's planning to open a nightclub with Reiner (Bardem). For extra cash, he's organising a massive cocaine shipment with Westray (Pitt). And it's this drug deal that goes wrong, creating a mess that engulfs Reiner and Laura, as well as Reiner's shrewd girlfriend Malkina (Diaz). As his life collapses around him, the Counsellor scrambles to salvage what he can, even as he realises that it'll be a miracle if anyone survives.

There are problems at every level of this production. McCarthy's first original script is simply too literary, putting verbose dialog into the actors mouths that never sounds like people talking to each other. Fassbender and Bardem are good enough to get away with this, but Pitt and Diaz struggle. Both Fassbender and Cruz bring out some wrenching emotions in their scenes, but their characters are never much more than cardboard cutouts. In fact, no one in this story feels like a fully fleshed-out person. And the little we know about each character makes most of them fairly unlikeable.

'Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa' Finally Topples 'Gravity' From The Top Of The US Box Office

Johnny Knoxville Sandra Bullock George Clooney Tom Hanks Michael Fassbender Brad Pitt Javier Bardem Ridley Scott

Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa is this weeks number one movie at the box office, ousting the mega-successful Gravity from the top spot after a three week stay. The Johnny Knoxville-starring prank fest more than doubled its estimated cost of $15 million in the first weekend alone, amassing an impressive estimate of $32 million since it was released last week.

Bad Grandpa
Bad Grandpa has topped the US box office at the first attempt

Exceeding expectations by scoring more than $30 mil. at the box office, Bad Grandpa comfortably came in first place, averaging just short of $10,000 at each cinema it opened at across America. The fourth feature length outing from the Jackass team is now the second most successful of the bunch, just about tying with the first movie and coming some way off the estimated $50 mil. made by Jackass 3-D. Box office estimates indicate that the film should end its domestic run with about $75 million.

'Jackass Present: Bad Grandpa' Looks Like The Early Favourite To Top Weekend Box Office

Johnny Knoxville Sandra Bullock George Clooney Paul Greengrass Tom Hanks Brad Pitt Ridley Scott Michael Fassbender Javier Bardem Cameron Diaz

Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa is predicted to earn close to $30 million at the box office in it's opening weekend, according to Deadline, making it the most likely candidate to finish at the top of the box office come the end of the week. This means that after three weeks of dominating the US box office, Gravity may finally be replaced as America's favourite movie at cinemas.

Bad Grandpa
Bad Grandpa should be an easy weekend winner

Depending on what side of the $30 mil. mark it lands on, the film can become either the third or fourth most successful R-rated film of the year in terms of opening box office revenue. Should the film exceed expectations even further, it could potentially place even higher. The film already made an estimated $11 - 12 mil. on the opening day of the weekend - Friday, 25 October - and could be well on its way to exceeding the $30 mil. mark should the numbers continue to add up. Not bad for a film that only cost $15 million to make.

How Could Cormac McCarthy's 'The Counselor' Possibly Have Failed?

Michael Fassbender Ridley Scott Javier Bardem

If we cast back our minds some six months, The Counselor was tipped for Oscar glory. The bookmakers are prone to making false judgement calls when it comes to awards' season. Last year, the pairing of Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman under the stewardship of Paul Thomas Anderson was deemed faultless and, as such, The Master was tipped as a sure fire Oscar winner following its festival screenings that summer.

Faltering down the market in the early stages was Argo - George Clooney and Ben Affleck's drama that went on to topple Spielberg's Lincoln, Lee's Life of Pi and Anderson's The Master.

Few films have generated as much buzz as Ridley Scott’s The Counselor. Despite having a few ‘off’ films, shall we say, the impressive cast and Cormac McCarthy’s name on the writing credit mean this taut looking thriller has been turning heads everywhere it goes.

It’s all very sleek; shiny cars, handsome people, phone conversations that don’t end with a goodbye. That’s the world Michael Fassbender lives in, probably in real life, but most prominently, in The Counselor, Ridley Scott’s taut looking new thriller, which has a sexy new trailer.

Sam Mendes Signs For ‘Bond 24,’ Though John Logan’s Return Is Key

Sam Mendes John Logan Daniel Craig Barbara Broccoli Javier Bardem

James Bond fans received the news they’d be waiting for on Thursday – Sam Mendes would be returning for the twenty-fourth 007 movie, following the huge success of Skyfall.

Given his theatre commitments, it was assumed that the Oscar-winning director would be unable to helm the follow-up to the biggest grossing British movie in history – though he appears to have found a gap in his schedule to direct the next Bond for an October 23, 2015 release date.

Daniel Craig – often considered the finest Bond actor in history – had delayed his decision to return for his fourth movie, though the return of Mendes will see him don the tuxedo once again.

The Counsellor Trailer

'The Counsellor' tells the story of a naive lawyer who holds the belief that dabbling in drug-trafficking is the best way to earn a little extra cash. However, that dabbling evolves into full-blown dealing which consumes his life and infects with all the corruption, betrayal and pain he thought he could avoid. Now with some seriously ruthless criminals on his tail, he begins to realise that there is nothing that these people will not do to get what they want and the odds on his life begin to get higher and higher. Unless he can work out who his friends are, he has no hope of returning to his normal life, but in a world where disloyalty affects everyone's relationships, he begins to wonder if he really has anyone there for him at all.

Directed by the triple Oscar nominated Sir Ridley Scott ('Prometheus', 'Gladiator', 'Alien'), this high-energy, gritty thriller is all about corruption and how smalls mistakes can lead to major consequences. The screenplay has been written by novellist Cormac McCarthy ('No Country for Old Men', 'All the Pretty Horses') and it features an exciting, star-studded cast ensemble. It is set to reach UK cinemas everywhere on November 15th 2013.

Penelope Cruz Cast As Oldest Bond Girl At 40?

Penelope Cruz James Bond Sam Mendes Javier Bardem

Penelope Cruz has been cast as the next Bond girl and is set to appear in the next installment, which will most likely be directed again by Sam Mendes, after 2012's Skyfall success.

With planned filming next summer (2014), Cruz will become the oldest ever Bond girl at 40, a year older than Goldfinger's Honor Blackman who was 39 when she played Pussy Galore in one of the most memorable Bond girl performances alongside Sean Connery

The Spanish actress, currently pregnant with her second child with fellow actor Javier Bardem, will star in the 100million budget 24th James Bond movie.

To The Wonder Trailer

Neil is the subject of a cautionary tale about the dangers of falling in love. He thinks he has met the woman of his dreams when the European Marina flies over to the States to be with him. However, as beautiful and as perfect as their love seems, Neil can't stop seeing Jane; an old flame from the town he grew up in; as a spark is ignited between them once more. He becomes doubtful of his love life, and struggles to make sense of it while Father Quintana is equally struggling with his faith, unable to see past the pain and suffering in the world. Neil must understand that love is not perfect, nor is it easy in execution; you are at constant risk of failure, of betrayal and ultimately heartbreak. But love in its many forms is nonetheless a beauty, even if it can be unpredictable.

Very Good

Frankly, a bad Terrence Malick film is better than 90 percent of movies released in cinemas: but if you thought The Tree of Life was indulgent and overly kaleidoscopic, you should avoid this like the plague. Because this film is even looser and more internalised, taking an impressionistic approach to plot and characters that gives us very few specifics. It also leaves the cast to play mere hints of people who are having crises of faith and love.

After a lushly romantic trip to Paris and Mont Saint-Michel, Neil (Affleck) brings his French girlfriend Marina (Kurylenko) and her 10-year-old daughter Tatiana (Chiline) home to Oklahoma to live. The geography and culture are a shock to both of them, but Marina tells Neil, "If you love me, I'm OK here." So they begin to bond as a family, and Marina turns to local Catholic priest Quintana (Bardem) for support. But he's having a crisis of faith, and she's wondering if she's made a terrible mistake. So when her visa expires, she takes Tatiana and returns to France. In confusion, Neil then turns to his old flame Jane (McAdams). But as their rekindled romance begins to get serious, she realises that he's still in love with Marina.

Malick tells this story with snippets of ideas and feelings. Emmanuel Lubezki's sumptuous cinematography finds raw beauty everywhere, including in Malick's trademark sun-dappled leaves, waving wheat fields and rippling water. But there's also raw beauty in the actors' faces, and we understand their thoughts through breathy voiceovers that offer philosophical musings and biblical texts. As a result, only Marina emerges as a properly defined character with passion and yearnings; everyone else is sketchy and vague. Even Affleck and Bardem, who have strong on-screen presence, never quite register here.

Hurray! Penelope Cruz Pregnant With Baby No 2

Penelope Cruz Javier Bardem

It seems the rumors are true, Penelope Cruz is indeed pregnant again! The 38-year-old actress is expecting her second child with husband Javier Bardem, confirming the news herself to Spanish TV station TVE! The Oscar-winner gushed that she's "tremendously happy and excited," about her baby-to-be with Bardem, 43, reports US Weekly magazine.

The pregnancy means the Spanish actress will not be in attendance at the Goya Awards in Madrid on February 17, 2013. The baby will join big brother Leo, 2, and also a little cousin, with Penelope's young sister Monica Cruz announcing in January that she was expecting her first child via an anonymous sperm donor. Back in June 2011, Cruz - who married Bardem at a friend's home in the Bahamas - told Vogue that motherhood is a "revolutionary experience," adding, "That's the best way I can describe it . . . when you see that face, you are transformed forever."

Javier Bardem's pretty empty schedule for 2013 suddenly makes a whole load of sense. He recently wrapped up filming on Ridley Scott's highly anticipated thriller 'The Counselor' with Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and wife Penelope. She also completed work on the indie-comedy I'm So Excited.

Skyfall Takes $1 Billion Despite Racking Up 35 Gaffes!

Daniel Craig Sam Mendes Javier Bardem

Skyfall, Sam Mendes' critically acclaimed James Bond movie, has taken more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office. The latest film is now the most successful film in British box-office history, though it remains at No.2 on a list of movie gaffes spotted by eagle eyed cinemagoers. They had to go and spoil it.

According to the online list at moviemistakes.com, Skyfall contains 35 gaffes, second only to Men In Black III with 63. Among the most glaring errors include during the opening 'train scene' when Bond's footwear changes from black lace up shoes to black slip on ankle boots. During the thrilling Istanbul chase scene, Eve knocks out of the windshield of her car, though for the rest of the chase, half the glass is back in the frame. In the chase through the tube station, both Bond and his enemy Silva (Javier Bardem) slide down between the escalators, though the London Underground has hard vertical signs to stop people falling. In one of the movie's concluding scenes, Bond reaches the chapel and plunges into the icy water, though he appears to be perfectly dry just seconds later.

The 23rd official Bond film became the first movie ever to take £100 million at the British box office this past weekend, ($1 billion worldwide). Daniel Craig's third Bond movie is STILL on general release more than two months after its release, such is the continuing demand.
