A brand new Japanese trailer for the forthcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie Salazar’s Revenge / Dead Men Tell No Tales has revealed Keira Knightley to be making a return to the film franchise as Elizabeth Swann, after nearly a decade’s absence.

It had originally been thought that Knightley wouldn’t be returning for the fifth instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, having not featured in any of the Disney film series since 2007’s At World’s End.

But now, in what was presumably intended to be a well-kept secret by the studio until the film’s release next month, the 32 year old actress’s character Elizabeth looks set to be reunited with Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and son Henry (Brenton Thwaites).

When it comes to representing the gay community via popular characters, TV is way ahead of film, according to GLAAD, who have released a rather interesting studio ranking, based on leading homosexual characters in movies.

The list sees Universal performing at an ‘adequate’ level, with 25% of their films featuring LGBT character appearances. Sony and Paramount were also adequate, while Fox, with 0%, and Disney, with 7.7% are ‘failing’.

The Counsellor is a clever new thriller from the creative mind of Sir Ridley Scott and screenwriter Cormac McCarthy, in which a lawyer (Michael Fassbender) decides to try and make a little extra money on the side by selling cocaine. Over the course of the film, he learns that there is no such thing as easy money, especially not in the drug trade, as he begins to meet and mix with some unsavoury character (even worse than lawyers, we're led to believe) and has to work out who his real friends are in this new, powdery life, that's if he even has any in the first place.

Is it just us or has the world gone completely baby bonkers? Whilst Kate Middleton was giving birth to her son yesterday, Penélope Cruz also pushed out a youngster as the world's gaze was elsewhere. Spanish actress Cruz and her husband actor Javier Bardem welcomed a little girl into the world on Monday 22nd July in Madrid, reports Spanish magazine Hola.

James Bond fans received the news they’d be waiting for on Thursday – Sam Mendes would be returning for the twenty-fourth 007 movie, following the huge success of Skyfall.

Given his theatre commitments, it was assumed that the Oscar-winning director would be unable to helm the follow-up to the biggest grossing British movie in history – though he appears to have found a gap in his schedule to direct the next Bond for an October 23, 2015 release date.

Daniel Craig – often considered the finest Bond actor in history – had delayed his decision to return for his fourth movie, though the return of Mendes will see him don the tuxedo once again.

The trailer for Ridley Scott's upcoming gritty thriller The Counselor dropped yesterday, after the initial teaser was circulated in cryptic Russian. With a November release date, there's certainly enough time to build up anticipation for the film, which is written by No Country For Old Men screenwriter, Cormac McCarthy.

There may be added logic to the late-2013 release date however: to give itself the best chances for 2014 Oscars consideration. The Counselor stars Michael Fassbender (Shame, Prometheus) who plays a lawyer who gets involved in cocaine trafficking and ends up in over his head with the wrong people. According to First Showing, Fassbender teams up in business with a rich acquaintance, played by Bardem, as Pitt's shady criminal character comes out of the shadows as things take a turn for the worst.In an incredible cast, Fassbender's co-stars include Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz and Cameron Diaz.Despite their cinematic fame and success, neither Scott nor Pitt have ever won an Oscar before, with Pitt apparently resigning himself to never winning, having said: "I don't play the Oscars game." November release dates tend to be awards friendly, due to being late enough to not be forgotten amongst the year's other cinematic releases but not too late as to have not made enough of an impression.

Due for release on 15th November, the film tells the tale of a lawyer, played by Michael Fassbender, who gets involved in cocaine trafficking and ends up in over his head with the wrong people. The Counselor's screenplay was written by Cormac McCarthy, who also wrote No Country For Old Men - another film that starred Bardem as a baddie. Ridley Scott, who is known for such epics as Kingdom of Heaven and Aliens will direct the movie that has been filmed in locations in the UK, US and Spain.

The Spanish director Josep Joan Bigas Luna, who can count Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz among his acting discoveries, has died at the premature age of 67.

The BBC reports that Bigas Luna died after a long battle with cancer at his home in Tarragona, northeast Spain. One of the biggest influential film makers in the country, he also had an eye for talent – Javier Bardem’s first role was in Bigas Luna’s 1990 film The Ages Of Lulu. "I don't know where to begin," Bardem said in a statement, adding that he owed the director "the woman I love" and "a career that I never dreamed I could have". Cruz also went for a role in The Ages Of Lulu and though she didn’t get the role, her first meeting with the director apparently changed her life. "In walked a man with a rascal's face: Bigas Luna," she said in her own statement "The first thing he asked me was my age [she was 14]. I said I was 17 and he, always very gently and without making me feel too bad, laughed in my face and said: `Well, you won't make this movie, but I'll call for another when you're older."'

True enough he did get in touch with her three years later, to star in Jamon, Jamon alongside Bardem. It was the first time the pair met and they went on to get married. Both have starred in Bigas Luna films since as well, with Barden appearing in 1993's Golden Balls and 1994's Le teta y la luna and Cruz in 1999’s Volaverunt, before going on to win a best supporting Oscar in 2009 for Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

It seems the rumors are true, Penelope Cruz is indeed pregnant again! The 38-year-old actress is expecting her second child with husband Javier Bardem, confirming the news herself to Spanish TV station TVE! The Oscar-winner gushed that she's "tremendously happy and excited," about her baby-to-be with Bardem, 43, reports US Weekly magazine.

The pregnancy means the Spanish actress will not be in attendance at the Goya Awards in Madrid on February 17, 2013. The baby will join big brother Leo, 2, and also a little cousin, with Penelope's young sister Monica Cruz announcing in January that she was expecting her first child via an anonymous sperm donor. Back in June 2011, Cruz - who married Bardem at a friend's home in the Bahamas - told Vogue that motherhood is a "revolutionary experience," adding, "That's the best way I can describe it . . . when you see that face, you are transformed forever."

Skyfall, Sam Mendes' critically acclaimed James Bond movie, has taken more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office. The latest film is now the most successful film in British box-office history, though it remains at No.2 on a list of movie gaffes spotted by eagle eyed cinemagoers. They had to go and spoil it.

According to the online list at moviemistakes.com, Skyfall contains 35 gaffes, second only to Men In Black III with 63. Among the most glaring errors include during the opening 'train scene' when Bond's footwear changes from black lace up shoes to black slip on ankle boots. During the thrilling Istanbul chase scene, Eve knocks out of the windshield of her car, though for the rest of the chase, half the glass is back in the frame. In the chase through the tube station, both Bond and his enemy Silva (Javier Bardem) slide down between the escalators, though the London Underground has hard vertical signs to stop people falling. In one of the movie's concluding scenes, Bond reaches the chapel and plunges into the icy water, though he appears to be perfectly dry just seconds later.

The 23rd official Bond film became the first movie ever to take £100 million at the British box office this past weekend, ($1 billion worldwide). Daniel Craig's third Bond movie is STILL on general release more than two months after its release, such is the continuing demand.

Following on from the success it achieved over its opening weekend last week, the latest James Bond film, Skyfall, has broken yet another record by becoming the highest grossing film over its opening week in the UK.

The new Bond film, Daniel Craig’s third as 007, has so far taken in £32.7 million since it opened last week, overtaking the previous holder of the record Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Around £30 million of the takings came in the opening weekend, but the gradual increase of taking – over a Halloween weekend that saw few attend the cinemas – has cemented it’s place in the history books already.

In regards to the achievement, Gary Barber, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at MGM said: "The continued record-breaking success of this film is a true testament to all involved and the global power of this 50 year old franchise."

Is James Bond bisexual now? Perhaps he always was! Daniel Craig has previously hinted that he’d be open to Bond having a fluid sexuality and there’s a scene in the latest Bond movie, 'Skyfall' that has really got fans thinking about whether or not the spy hasn’t always just had his eye on those sexy Bond girls.

Movieline asked Daniel Craig at a press conference about the scene in which Bond is faced with Silva (played by Javier Bardem), who strokes the MI6 agent’s chest. In response, Bond says to him “what makes you think this is my first time?” The scene has sparked a great deal of debate online, as to whether Bond is being genuine, or whether he simply trying to psyche out Silva and get out of a tricky situation. Craig told Movieline “I don't see the world in sexual divisions” but then changed the subject to Bardem’s character, saying “someone suggested Silva may be gay” and then joked “”I’m like ‘I think he’ll f*** anything.” Not exactly answering the question, there Daniel! It looks as though the subject of Bond’s sexuality is going to remain the subject of speculation for a little while longer. That pertinent scene seems to pose more questions than it answers.

Rather than taking the matter of Bond’s sexuality seriously – probably knowing that if he did, the ensuing online discussion would most likely break the entire internet – Craig seems content to laugh it off for now and leave it open for discussion, though he’ll be so used to dealing with all the ’Daniel Craig, gay’ rumours that he’ll be used to side-stepping these kinds of queries. “Love that scene," he said "It makes me laugh. I hope it makes you laugh." So: a bisexual Bond? Something to laugh about or something that’s been opened up for future Bond directors to explore?

'Skyfall', the new James Bond movie directed by Sam Mendes, hits cinemas on November 9 and already attention is turning to whether or not the picture could snag a surprise Oscar nomination.

'Oscar bait' is a term often used to describe a movie awash with all the key themes that the Academy so readily rewards. For example, they're suckers for epic dramas (Titanic, Gladiator), romance (Shakespeare in Love, The English Patient) and movies packed full of previous Oscar winners (Traffic, The Kings Speech). Oscar bait movies usually hit cinemas at the same time each year- in November or December, wafting themselves under the noses of the Academy just weeks before nominations are announced.

This year, Sony seems to have thrown 'Skyfall' into the fray as Oscar bait, so does the film have a realistic chance of a nomination? Well, as HitFix.com rightly points out, the movie has attached an Oscar winning director in Mendes, an Oscar winning and three time nominated actor in Javier Bardem and an Oscar winning actress and six-time nominee in Judi Dench. Its screenwriter is a three-time nominee while cinematographer Roger Deakins is a nine-time nominee who is almost certain to scoop the prize come February if industry insiders are to be believed. Deakins - best known for his work on just about every Coen Brothers movie - is revered in the movie business and often considered the finest cinematographer of all time. On top of all this, Skyfall's production designer, art director and second unit director have all been handed nominations in the past: i.e - the movie has all the bases covered.

Adele’s ‘Bond’ theme will see the London songstress follow in the footsteps of singing greats Shirley Bassey and Nancy Sinatra, both of whom are responsible for recording some of the most recognizable 007 tunes in the secret agent’s 50 years in film.

The multiple Grammy award winner had long been rumoured to be handed the prestigious role for Sam Mendes’ forthcoming ‘Skyfall’ – again starring Daniel Craig – and Total Film.com confirmed the speculation this week. Adele’s single, named after the new movie, will be the first release from the star since ‘Turning Tables’ from her much-feted ‘21’ album. Given her phenomenally successful couple of years, Adele will certainly be a popular choice for the job and she boasts the kind of heavyweight soulful voice synonymous with the theme tune. One thing’s for sure: it’s almost certain to be an improvement on the poorly received tune ‘Another Way to Die’ by Jack White and Alicia Keys from 2008’s ‘Quantum of Solace’.

‘Skyfall’ – set to open in the UK on October 26 – stars Daniel Craig, alongside Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw.
