White House officials have told the press that President Barack Obama absolutely did not communicate with Jay Z and Beyonce over their decision to go and celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary in Cuba this week, in spite of a freshly released Jay Z track that suggests in his lyrics that he did.

Americans are under a strict embargo by the US government so that they can only travel to the communist state if they hold a license to do so. However there have been several reports that Jay and Be flaunted those restrictions when travelling to the island, and Hova even suggested in his new song Open Letter that he was given personal clearance by Obama to travel. “I done turned Havana to Atlanta ... Boy from the hood but got White House clearance” the rapper said in his song. “Obama said ‘chill you’re going to get me impeached.’”

However a White House official has denied the claim totally, quipping that the rapper probably couldn’t find a word to rhyme with treasury. It’s the treasury of the country who decide whether to grant licenses to Americans wishing to go to Cuba, according to the spokesperson, and he was adamant that there was no conversation between the two parties before they traveled. So does that mean the couple are in a whole load of trouble? Unlikely, they’re good pals with Obama, and the US is thinking about dropping the long-standing embargo. In fact, given the influence of Jigga, this could be the action that pushes them towards doing it.
