Jay Z's former business partner hopes the rapper didn't hit on his ex-wife Rachel Roy.

Damon Dash says rumours the 'Holy Grail' hitmaker was flirting with the fashion designer before he was attacked by his wife Beyoncé Knowles' sister Solange in an elevator at the Met Gala in New York City on May 5 are ''kinda f**ked up.''

He told 'Hip Hop Motivation': ''If he was trying to holler at my wife ... that's kinda f*cked up.''

He added: ''That would be dark. That means he really has some resentment. I would hope that wouldn't be the case.''

Damon, 43, and Jay fell out in 2004 after their record company Roc-a-Fella Records was purchased by Def Jam, but he admires the way his former pal dealt with the incident.

He said: ''I thought it was funny. Jay's the kind of guy who doesn't move or nothing like that that much. He just don't have many uncool moments.''

The music and fashion mogul has two daughters with Rachel, whom he was married to for four years until 2009.

Jay, 44, and Beyoncé, who have two-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, allegedly skipped Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's wedding in Florence, Italy last Saturday (24.05.14) because Rachel was on the guest-list.

An insider said things would have been awkward between them following reports Solange, 27, attacked her brother-in-law because she thought he was flirting with Rachel in front of her sister.

The source previously said: ''Solange yelled about Rachel on Beyoncé's behalf, asking Jay, 'How could you treat my sister like that?' Solange walked up and started screaming at Rachel. She was making a big scene.''
