Jeff Bridges was so desperate to land a part in controversial film THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST he wrote a letter to director Martin Scorsese. The Big Lebowski star insists it was the only time he'd ever put pen to paper to request a film part. He reveals, "It was one of my favourite books and I wanted to play Judas. "I sent him a wonderful book too, called The Saviors Of God, which was the writer's (Nikos Kazantzakis) last book. "I didn't get the part but I enjoyed the movie." The part of Judas in the 1988 film went to Harvey Keitel.
