Could Jena Malone be playing Robin opposite Ben Affleck’s caped crusader in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? We certainly hope so, but the actress will definitely be seen in Zack Snyder’s upcoming superhero flick although her exact role is yet to be confirmed.

Jena MaloneCould Jena Malone be the next Robin on the big screen?

The rumours that Malone could be following in Chris O’Donnell’s footsteps began when WILX 10, a Michigan television station, reported that the actress had been spotted on the set.

Reporter Kirk Montgomery described to viewers a scene which was being filmed that involved a fight between Batman and Lex Luthor at a swanky party. The reporter then dropped the bomb that the character of Robin might be female and could be played by Malone.

The report then cut to an alleged ‘extra’ who was the source of the information and whose identity had been protected. The secrecy was said to be due to a “multimillion-dollar lawsuit” which could be filed against anyone who violates the movie’s nondisclosure agreements.

The idea of a female Robin was first done by Frank Miller in his miniseries The Dark Knight Returns, which introduced the character of Carrie Kelley, a schoolgirl who is saved by the Caped Crusader.

The Hollywood Reporter has since confirmed that Malone will appear in the film, however her role is still unknown.

Due out next year, the movie already features a stellar cast list which includes  Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman.

Drastic times call for drastic measures.
