Jennie Garth married a younger man because she needed someone to "keep up" with her.
The 52-year-old actress tied the knot with Dave Abrams, 42, in 2015 and explained that not only does she find life "exciting" with him, he also uses humour to calm her down and help her de-stress.
She told People: "[Heis] the king of keeping things light. This is why I married a younger man, precisely, because he can keep up with me and keep me excited and just laughing, which is, for me, key.
"He is so silly and he can be incredibly helpful on matters, things that are stressing me out, or if I'm getting overwhelmed, he's great at bringing me back down to earth and calming me down.
"He can just twist it into making me laugh right away, which just diffuses anything in my life, which really helps."
Meanwhile, the former '90210' star - who was initially married to Daniel B. Clark from 1994 until 1996 and has daughters Luca, 26, Lola, 21, and 17-year-old Fiona with second husband Peter Facinelli - appeared opposite Amanda Bynes in the 2000s sitcom 'What I Like About You' but admitted that she hasn't really heard from her co-stars since, apart from her on-screen boyfriend Simon Rex and Leslie Grossman, who played her character's best friend
She said: "I talk time to time to Leslie Grossman. I ran into Simon Rex not that long ago. But we haven't all gotten together as a cast. That would be so amazing."
The series - which was created by Wil Calhoun and Dan Schneider- starred Jennie as the strait-laced Valerie Tyler, who allows her 16-year-old sister Holly to move into her New York apartment with her.
It ran on the WB from 2002 until 2006 but in recent years, 'Hairspray' star Amanda, 38, has endured a number of personal problems and although she has retired from acting, she previously admitted she would make a return to the spotlight if a revival was on the cards.
She told TMZ: "I miss them and would love to work with them again. I don't miss acting but I loved this show, so I'd be down to return to acting for this revival. It would be a great experience to continue the show."
