'The Taste of Chicago' will be licking its lips again this year with another host of top quality performances from the likes of Jennifer Hudson, DEATH CAB FOR A CUTIE, Chaka Khan and Dierks Bentley running between July 11th and July 14th 2012. However, whilst in the past these shows have been free for all to enjoy, the local council has sought to slap on a $25 ticket fee, which will no doubt taper some of the excitement, reports the Huffington Post.
'The Taste Of Chicago' is one of the largest food fairs in the world, and traditionally runs for 10 days starting just before Independence Day on July 4th. Millions often pass through its gates year-on-year and with that many people it seemed natural that entertainment should be on offer in order to satiate the crowds in attendance come evening time. It should be noted though, that crowds have fallen more than a quarter since the events heyday in the mid-noughties.
Nevertheless it's a fine line-up indeed for 2012, with Jennifer Hudson a local star, having made her name in both music and film since competing in 'American Idol,' whilst DEATH CAB FOR A CUTIE'S BEN GIBBARD will just be delighted to be back on the road following the heart ache of his recent split with wife Zooey Deschanel. Chaka Khan meanwhile is often known as the Queen of Funk and a 10-time GRAMMY AWARD winner to boot, whilst Dierks Bentley has already had a phenomenal year after scoring his fourth US Country chart number one with seventh album 'Home.'
