The award appears to have rounded off a perfect year for Lawrence who won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in The Silver Linings Playbook. The actress has continued to garner praise for starring in The Hunger Games, the second part of which was released in November.

Reviews of the hit franchise were dominated by comments about Lawrence's performance, which was described as being filled with "strength and beauty." Whilst others felt she possessed "a calm sincerity and steely determinism."

In a similar vein, her demeanour off screen has also earned her high praise. As USA Today reports, a member of the voting panel, Kristi Runyan of the News Herald Newspapers, felt "It's refreshing to see a young woman not squandering her talent and success by succumbing to the temptations many do in Hollywood and who actively speaks about the ridiculous behaviour of some of her peers."
