The new trailer for the upcoming ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ has just landed and now we’re more excited than ever. The film won’t hit theatres until May 23rd but while we’re left waiting there’s plenty in this new trailer to get excited for. So now, who can’t wait for ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’?

Incase you didn’t already know, the plot of ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ is well, not so simple. This movie is kind of like a sequel/fourth movie, but also not and it’s also a bit of a prequel but not really either. To try and condense things down, basically the mutants are in trouble, deep trouble. Actually they’re on the verge of extinction. So this means the characters from the original X-Men films have to join forces with their X-Men: First Class younger selves and try and change the past – to save their future. It’s a little bit long winded but uniting the old and new X-Men could just be exactly what fans and this franchise has been waiting. So what’s the trailer giving away?

The trailer opens with a look at the future which seems to be a very depressing and gloomy distoypia. All is dark except for a small portion which is lit up by purple light. Could this be the base of the Sentinels? Or perhaps where the mutants are being kept i.e. some sort of interment camp maybe? We can only guess, but somethings going on in there for sure. Now there had been rumors that Halle Berry wouldn't make the film and the good new is, she’s definitely in there. The bad news, however, is already things don’t look good for Storm as we see her being attacked by one of the Future Sentinels. So that leaves us to wonder just how long she’ll last in the movie.

Jennifer Lawrence is back as MystiqueJennifer Lawrence is back as Mystique

As Professor X lets us know, the mutants are now on the ‘edge of extinction’ and we see images of some of our favourite X-men including, Wolverine, Magneto, Colossus and Mystique in all of their mutant glory. We then see Wolverine scream in pain as they prepare to delve into the past, which brings us back to the X-Mansion where the young Charles Xavier has gone underground, presumably to begin to reunite the X-Men. In order to have a chance at success Professor X and Magneto will have to get on the same page. We do see them in a shot together but it’s more interesting for other reasons. Mainly Quicksilver can be seen standing in the background wearing a Pink Floyd t-shirt. Also noteworthy is that James McAvoy appears to be standing up, leading us to wonder how they’re going to fit that one in.

Next we’re transported to a military base, presumably in Vietnam, where Mystique is back to her old shape shifting tricks, presumably on some sort of solo mission, which at a later point seems to lead her to Paris. On a side note, things don’t look good for her and Magneto.
