You can always count on the Met Ball to bring out some of the year’s craziest fashions.
Last night the world’s most famous and fashionable descended upon the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York for the annual Met Gala, a celebration of fashion that always delivers some seriously out-there looks. This year the Gala’s official theme was ‘China: Through The Looking Glass,’ but on the red carpet the nearly nude look ruled for some, while for others it was all about making an unforgettable fashion statement.
Rihanna in Guo Pei
First let’s look at Rihanna, the singer who literally stole the show last night. Dressed in an awe inspiring yellow Guo Pei gown, Rihanna had jaws dropping all along the Met’s red carpet. Lined with yellow fur and covered in embellishments Ri-Ri’s dress was an internet meme creator’s dream and it ended up being compared to everything from Big Bird to an omelette online.
The Tejano superstar was honoured by Lopez on the 20th anniversary of her death.
Jennifer Lopez made sure the musical legacy of Selena would never be forgotten on Thursday night, when she performed a tribute to the late singer at the Billboard Latin Awards. Lopez played the Tejano icon in the 1997 biopic Selena, which launched her career in Hollywood and led her to also pursue making music.

Lopez was joined on stage by backing band Los Dinos, which includes Selena’s brother A.B., sister Suzette and widower Chris Pérez. During the just under eight minute set Lopez performed a melody of the singer’s hits including ‘Como La Flor’, ‘Bidi Bidi Bom Bom’, ‘Amor Prohibido’, ‘I Could Fall in Love’, and ‘No Me Queda Mas’.

'The Maze Runner' and 'Neighbors' also scooped awards.
It's difficult to argue with the results of this year's MTV Movie Awards victors, who took home their much-deserved accolades on Sunday (April 12th 2015). The top prize of Movie Of The Year went to Josh Boone's adaptation of the John Green novel 'The Fault In Our Stars' - but who else won big at the 2015 ceremony?
Shailene Woodley took home a couple of awards herself; first for Best Female Performance in 'The Fault In Our Stars', and second for Best Kiss with Ansel Elgort. 'The Maze Runner' star Dylan O'Brien also won big, landing Breakthrough Performance, Best Hero and, of course, Best Fight with Will Poulter. O'Brien will reprise his role in the upcoming sequel 'Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials'. Meanwhile, Zac Efron's abs in 'Neighbors' predictably won him Best Shirtless Performance, while his onscreen chemistry with Dave Franco made them Best Duo. 'Neighbors' was also the winner of Best WTF Moment, with Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne taking home the award.

'Home' is colorfully inoffensive.
Fox's new animation Home may not be earth-shatteringly original or ground-breaking but it packs enough star power in the form of Rihanna, Jim Parsons and Jennifer Lopez and its likeable tale will be a hit with families this weekend.
Rihanna plays the fearless 'Tip' in Fox's animated movie Home
It tells the story of Oh, a cute misfit from another planet who, when landing on Earth, finds himself on the run from his own kind. He soon forms an unlikely friendship with an adventurous girl named Tip who is on a quest of her own.

DreamWorks Animation have released 'Home' a week early for Mother's Day, leading to a successful box office before it's official release.
While 'The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' held on to the top spot on the British box office chart for the third straight week, the real champion last weekend was the riotously enjoyable DreamWorks animated adventure 'Home', which played a series of preview screenings in advance of it opening across the country this weekend.
'Home' hits US theatres on 27th March 2015
While 'Second Best' took an impressive £1.4m in its third weekend of play, 'Home''s previews brought in £2.45m on Saturday and Sunday alone. Cleverly marketed as a UK Mother's Day treat, the film drew families to cinemas in huge numbers. This preview income will be added to 'Home''s tally this weekend for next week's box office chart, which means it could beat the second 'Divergent Series' movie, 'Insurgent', to the top of the chart.

A sharp script and especially colourful imagery make this animated romp a lot more fun than expected, entertaining grown-ups just as much as the kids. It may be the usual frantic action comedy, but there's an edge to the humour and a continual stream of knowing gags and witty references that keep us laughing. As a result, the busy plot is surprisingly involving, and the action scenes are genuinely thrilling.
It opens in outer space with the Boov, a race of blobby creatures that are only good at one thing: running away from their sworn enemy the Gorg. Their leader Captain Smek (Steve Martin) has selected Earth as their next hiding place, so they swoop in and corral mankind into Happy Humantowns in the Australian Outback while the Boov occupy the cities, hilariously trying to make sense of everything they find there. But a Boov named Oh (Jim Parsons) sticks out from the hive-like community. Friendlier and more curious than he should be, he inadvertently alerts the Gorg to their location. So he goes on the run, meeting up with the human teen girl Tip (Rihanna), who has managed to hide out with her chubby cat Pig and now wants to find her mother (Jennifer Lopez). Pursued by Smek and top cop Kyle (Matt Jones), Oh and Tip must dart around the globe to solve both of their predicaments.
Based on Adam Rex's novel The True Meaning of Smekday, the story is packed with lively twists and turns, and the filmmakers bring it to life with energy, humour and some real emotion. The animators pull out all the stops as they play with outrageous colours and eye-catching action, while the Boov's ability to selectively control gravity adds plenty of scope for additional mayhem. For example, Oh and Tip travel the globe in a car that Oh soups up Back to the Future-style so they can fly to Boov central command in Paris and then on to Australia. These kinds of knowing film references flit across the screen all the way through their adventure.

Jennifer Lopez smiles and waves at fans as she arrives at the ABC studios for 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' in Los Angeles. Surrounded by her entourage, she looked uber classy in a tight red midi-dress and matching stilettos, her hair scooped back into a low ponytail. She gave the paparazzi a wave before entering the building, but did not stop for photographs.
J-Lo opens up about all the sexy details...
For her first film role in two years, Jennifer Lopez chose the sudsy romantic-stalker drama The Boy Next Door, which she also produced. And she admits there was something irresistibly relatable about the character which she plays.
Jennifer Lopez stars in her first film in two years
"We knew we were making a popcorn thriller," she said, "but the character for me was something that seemed a perfect fit for right now. I really could relate to what she's been through, being at the point in her life where her relationship falls apart. She's left feeling that sense of worthlessness, like she doesn't belong anywhere. So I think people can understand making a mistake in a moment like that."

A cheesy TV movie ramped up with language and violence, this sudsy thriller is far more fun to watch than it should be. With its tepid spin on the plot of Fatal Attraction, the film strains to be a bunny-boiler, but entertains the audience because it's so preposterous that not a single moment is remotely believable. And since the cast refuses to play it straight, camping it up while smirking at the camera, it's enjoyable in all the wrong ways.
Jennifer Lopez stars as Claire, a high school teacher who has recently split from her husband Garrett (John Corbett) and is still getting used to life on her own with teen son Kevin (Ian Nelson). Then the astoundingly hunky 19-year-old Noah (played by 27-year-old Ryan Guzman) moves in next door with his invalid uncle (Jack Wallace) after his parents die in a fiery car crash. Super friendly, Noah quickly begins to help Kevin stand up to the school bullies and pursue the hot girl (Lexi Atkins). But Noah also begins to flirt relentlessly with Claire, and in a moment of neediness she gives in. While she sees this as a mildly transgressive restorative fling, Noah thinks it's true love, and pursues her tenaciously. And when Claire begins to trying to patch things up with Garrett, Noah takes Kevin out for a bit of gun practice.
Despite a tendency to drift into grisly violence, there's nothing edgy here. It's a swirling storm of innuendo and suggestion, with a strong sense of menace that never quite convinces us, even with a couple of gruesome plot points. This may be because the camera clearly loves Lopez so much that we know she's never in danger.

The 'Boyhood' actress used her acceptance speech to call for wage equality and equal rights for women, but her comments have split opinions.
Patricia Arquette’s Oscars acceptance speech has set the world of social media alight in the last twenty four hours. After she used her time at the microphone to call for wage equality and equal rights for women, opinion has been polarised as to validity of her argument.
The 46 year old won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Olivia Evans in Boyhood. Having produced a sheet of paper and thanked her family and fellow cast members, she went on to deliver a rousing finale: “It's our time to have wage equality once and for all, and equal rights for women in the United States of America.”

After taking a beating in reviews, "The Boy Next Door" might actually have a decent box office take.
The Jennifer Lopez-starring thriller The Boy Next Door might become the surprise success of the month, after checking in with $500000 this Friday. According to Variety’s estimates, the movie is on track to get between $12 million and $15 million this weekend on a budget of $4 million.
Jennifer Lopez made a big career move with her first thriller role in The Boy Next Door.
Oh dear, Jennifer Lopez.
Maybe critics spoke too soon when they effectively declared Johnny Depp's Mortdecai as the worst movie of 2015 - already. Paramount is throwing another iron into the furnace of January offloads with The Boy Next Door - a thriller starring the R&B superstar Jennifer Lopez in her first acting role since Parker in 2013.

The 45-year-old singer also spoke about finding "comfort" in relationships and being a “love addict."
Even though Jennifer Lopez may have dated younger men in the past, she doesn't like being labelled a cougar. The 45-year-old songstress recently opened up about being romantically involved with men many years younger than her, and admitted it is "no big deal."
Lopez says dating younger men is "no big deal"
"All the old clichés about women need to be undone," said Lopez, who broke up with her younger love Casper Smart in June, in the January 2015 issue of Self magazine. "Enough already. We're in the other position now. We are desirable older, we can date younger guys and it's not this big taboo. Men have been doing this for years, and it's no big deal. Enough with the clichés about women. We can date younger guys ... it's no big deal."
The overly-confident alien race, the Boov, have faced some difficulties in their time, but they've just discovered a new planet that they can call home. The only drawback? The planet's name is Earth, and it already has inhabitants. But when, arguably the source of their problems, Oh ('The Big Bang Theory''s Jim Parsons) is abandoned by his race, he runs across a new friend. Tip (Rihanna), is a renegade, and after escaping from the occupation of the Boov with Oh, the two begin a road-trip with a difference as they try to find their way in the world and make their own home.

On Friday, October 10, Variety’s Power of Women event honoured one very special woman for her work against poverty. Viola Davis may be an Oscar-nominated performer with her own successful TV show, but she had to fight her way there. The actress made sure to honor those still fighting in her speech.
Viola Davis recalled her difficult childhood and lent her voice to the Hunger Is campaign.
"Although my childhood was filled with many happy memories, it was also spent in abject poverty," she explained to the audience, according to Us Weekly. "I was one of the 17 million kids in this country who didn't know where the next meal was coming from, and I did everything to get food. I have stolen for food. I have jumped in huge garbage bins with maggots for food. I have befriended people in the neighborhood, who I knew had mothers who cooked three meals a day for food, and I sacrificed a childhood for food and grew up in immense shame."
Jane Fonda, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Lopez were also honoured during the luncheon which was sponsored by Lifetime.
