Jennifer Lopez has reportedly split with her record company, Epic, putting into doubt when her seventh album will be released.
Jennifer Lopez has reportedly split with her record company.
The US singer is said to have parted ways with label Epic after the underperformance of her single 'Louboutins' last year - which failed to make the make the US top ten, despite her giving a high profile rendition of the track at the American Music Awards.
Her seventh album, 'LOVE?', was scheduled to follow in April, although this now appears unlikely if Jennifer, 40, has parted company with Epic, an offshoot of Sony.
An insider told website deadline.com: "Jennifer had a wonderful relationship with the Sony Music group, and they have shared many successes together, but the time was right to make a change that best serves the direction her career as an actress and recording artist. She is grateful and appreciative to everyone Sony for all that they accomplished together."
The singer's representative has since confirmed the split, saying the single 'Louboutins' and its follow up 'Fresh Out The Oven' fulfilled her contract with her record company and she is currently negotiating with a new record label, rumoured to be Island Def Jam.
The album is also said to be incomplete, although Jennifer has already worked on high profile tracks for it with producers including Danja, Darkchild and The Neptunes.
Meanwhile, Jennifer defiantly performed in Italy last night (22.02.10) performing her rumoured next single 'What Is Love?' and other new songs at the Sanremo Festival in the Northwest of the country.
The 'Aint It Funny' hitmaker is also re-launching her film career, after taking time off to start a family, and will star in 'The Back-up Plan', which will be released in cinemas this April.
