The pair, who dated for two and a half years, decided to go their separate ways two months ago because "their relationship couldn't work with the distance."
Jennifer Lopez is once again a single lady.
The 44 year-old songstress recently separated from her boyfriend Casper Smart, after two and a half years of dating, TMZ reports.
Their split was amicable, according to the gossip site, but they decided to call it quits after simply growing apart.
Although news of their split has just surfaced, they haven't been in a relationship for the past two months.
Smart has recently been at the center of rumors that claimed he had been flirting with a transgender model behind the pop superstar's back by engaging in messages over social media, but this had nothing to do with their breakup.
"Casper has been a single guy and can text or see whoever he wants, but the idea that he was knowingly texting a transsexual is laughable," a source said. "He's not that guy, but like a lot of single guys online he obviously likes to look at a 'lil T and A."
"It wasn't an easy decision, but they decided to stay friends," another source told Us Weekly. "Their relationship couldn't work with the distance. He started trying to establish his own life and career, and she is so focused on hers, and they just couldn't be all about each other anymore."
The 27 year-old backup dancer is currently moving out of J-Lo's home, but there is no rush as she is on the road promoting her new album, 'AKA'.
Although Lopez has described Smart, who is 18 years younger, as "fantastic" with hers and ex-husband Marc Anthony's children, she never let on to believe that he could become husband No.4.

But when asked if wedding bells are in the 'Dance Again' singer's future, she replied "I don't know, we'll see. I don't know. You know, I've always believed in that institution. I believe in it, but it is difficult. I've had my challenges, but at the same time I believe in love, and I think that is the main thing."
