Jennifer Lopez's decision to split from boyfriend of two and a half years, Casper Smart, can't have been an easy one. The 44 year-old songstress needed some much needed advice before walking away from their relationship, but she turned to the unlikeliest of people.

Lopez called on her ex-husband Marc Anthony to divulge details about her ill-fated romance.

Anthony tied the knot with the 'Dance Again' singer in June 2004, they are both parents to twins Emme and Maximillian, who were born in February, 2008.

"One person she got advice from is her ex Marc...He's been supportive and great through this all," a source told E!News.

Lopez and Smart's separation was amicable, but they decided to call it quits after simply growing apart. Although news of their split has just surfaced, they haven't been in a relationship for the past two months.

"She will definitely still keep things civil and actually still loves him. The hard part is the kids love him too. He has become a part of her family," E!'s insider continued. "It's not going to be one of those breakups where you never see them together again."

Lopez was allegedly "so embarrassed" after rumors began surfacing that claimed Smart had been flirting with a transgender model behind the pop superstar's back by engaging in messages over social media, but this had nothing to do with their breakup.

"He's never cheated on her," the source confirmed.
