So, Who’s In It?

Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley are reprising their roles as Eddie Monsoon and Patsy Stone. Julia Sawalha, who played Eddie’s long suffering daughter Saffy in the series, is also returning. Jane Horrocks is back as Bubble, Eddie’s eccentric assistant, and June Whitfield will be reprising her role as Eddie’s mother. Ab Fab co-creator, Dawn French, is also set to make an appearance.

And the Celebrities?

Ab Fab wouldn’t be Ab Fab without a few celebrity faces popping by for a cameo or two. This time Saunders and Lumley are joined by the likes of Kim Kardashian West, Kate Moss and Glee’s Chris Colfer. Lulu and Emma Bunton, who have previously appeared in the series, are also set to make appearances.

The Plot?

Eddie is not renowned for her subtlety or social graces. We’ve seen it all throughout the series with Eddie (with a little help from Patsy) accidentally destroying unheard Beatles records, attempting unsuccessfully to join the hunting, shooting, fishing set (very Madonna circa 2003) and keeping a dolphin in her bathroom.

However, this time London society has finally had it with Eddie. After Eddie and Patsy are blamed for causing a major incident at a fashionable London launch event, they find themselves constantly pursued by the paparazzi and are finally hounded out of town. They head to the French Riviera and hatch a plan to ensure they can keep doing what Eddie and Patsy do best: partying, drug-taking and consuming magnums of Bollinger.

And Behind the Scenes?

Saunders, who created and co-wrote the original series with Dawn French, has written the screenplay. Mandie Fletcher, well known for her television work on such series as Ab Fab, Jam and Jerusalem and Blandings, is directing.

Co-creator Saunders and French have executive producer credits, as do Christian Eisenbeiss (Hockney), Christine Langan (Woman in Gold), Nichola Martin (Philomena), Steve Milne (Hockney) and Ab Fab alum Maureen Vincent. Jon Plowman (Inside No.9) and Damian Jones (Belle) are serving as producers.

When?

Filming began in September and is underway. The film is due to be released next year but an official released date has yet to be confirmed.
