Russell Brand Criticises Minute's Silence After Tunisian Massacre - Draws Torrents Of Criticism

Russell Brand Jeremy Kyle

Russell Brand has stirred up a new hornet’s nest of controversy by criticising the decision to hold a minute’s silence to remember the British citizens killed in act of terrorism in Tunisia last week.

38 people, including 30 British holidaymakers, were killed by a gunman on a beach outside a popular hotel resort in Sousse in the North African country last Friday (June 26th), and one week later the British government made the decision to honour their memory by declaring a minute’s silence yesterday (Friday July 3rd).

However, the self-styled activist Brand took to his YouTube site ‘The Trews’ to question what it would achieve. “There's no point in having a minute's silence on Friday - it's a minute of bulls***. What's the truth behind the terrible Tunisia massacre?”

'Classic Workaholic' Jeremy Kyle Vows To Be Back At Work Next Week After Major Cancer Treatment

Jeremy Kyle

47 year old Jeremy Kyle, the man who many claim to have exposed broken Britain on television through the exposure of dysfunctional families, was diagnosed with testicular cancer just before Christmas, after finding a lump having just got home from America where he'd been filming a US version of his show. Since then he's been being treated with chemotherapy. He's now in recovery and relaxing abroad, but has vowed to be back to work next week. What a trooper!

Speaking to the Sun, a friend of the presenter said: "Jeremy is your classic workaholic. He hates the fact he's not in the studio doing what he loves. He's been in touch with producers and told them not to get too comfortable as he'll be back on Wednesday. He has got a full series to do and doesn't want to let anyone down."

Thousands of fans have taken to Facebook, Twitter and the Sun website to give their best wishes to the father of four. In a statement made on Facebook, a representative said: "It's been a really tough couple of months for him and his family but he wanted to let you all know that he appreciates your continuing support. Jeremy will be back at work next week to start filming new shows which you'll see on TV very soon."

Stoic Jeremy Kyle Returning To Work Despite Cancer Recovery

Jeremy Kyle

Hats off to Jeremy Kyle, the polarising television host who was diagnosed with cancer before Christmas. The 47-year-old presenter has vowed to return to work for ITV next week to film new episodes of his popular talk show. Kyle says he is "overwhelmed" by the thousands of supportive messages he has received from his fans.

A statement from his ITV daytime programme on Twitter said: "Thank you for all the messages of support..It really does mean the world to Jeremy and he's been overwhelmed by the response." Kyle was diagnosed with testicular cancer just before Christmas though is now said to be "on the mend" after an operation and chemotherapy treatment. A former salesman, Jeremy Kyle has hosted his eponymous television programme for seven-and-a-half years, putting dysfunctional relationships into the spotlight. Many have criticised it, though ratings remain high and Kyle was nominated for the National Television Awards' best daytime TV show award this year.

The show's Facebook page has been inundated with supportive messages, with Jade Clarke saying, "ur such a amazing person Jeremy, get well soon xxxxxxxxxxx" Wendy Rollason said, "keep fighting, you can beat it! best wishes for your recovery xxx" Thomas Bolton added, "Get well soon Jeremy. You are an amazing lad and I think ITV should be very proud of a man which helps to change lives for the people of this country. Love to all the family."

Jeremy Kyle Cancer: Treated By Surgery, Recovery Starts

Jeremy Kyle

Jeremy Kyle has (hopefully) taken the first step towards battling cancer. The radio and television presenter - best known for his British daytime television chat show on ITV, The Jeremy Kyle Show - underwent surgery and chemotherapy after doctors diagnosed a "toxic" testicular tumour, the Metro reports.

Kyle was diagnosed with testicular cancer shortly before Christmas, after he found a lump on the way back from filming in America. Kyle's spokesman confirmed yesterday: "Jeremy has recently undergone treatment for testicular cancer and is currently resting abroad." A friend of his explained, "He's now had the all clear -- so hopefully he stopped it in its tracks." A friend of his said: "This has hit him for six. He's relatively young and this was the last thing he expected to happen to him. Just by chance he noticed he had a lump and decided to get it checked out. When the doctors told him it was toxic it turned his family's life upside down."

The friend added: "Jeremy's a very positive guy and he has followed medical advice so hopefully he's stopped it in its tracks. He's having a good break now and getting a bit of sunshine to lift his spirits. He hopes to be back filming his show soon. He won't let this beat him."

Recovery Break For Jeremy Kyle After Cancer Treatment

Jeremy Kyle

The TV chat show host Jeremy Kyle is recovering from treatment for testicular cancer, Sky News have reported. The TV personality – known for his no-nonsense handling of various low-rent personal scandals and announcer of more paternity tests than the CSA (possibly) - has taken a break from his TV presenting job in order that he can recover from his medical treatment.

A statement on Kyle’s Facebook page revealed “After an operation and chemotherapy treatment, I'm pleased to say he's now on the mend. It's been a really tough couple of months for him and his family but he wanted to let you all know that he appreciates your continuing support. Jeremy will be back at work next week to start filming new shows which you'll see on TV very soon.” Kyle, 47, was diagnosed with cancer after discovering a growth last year.

Having hosted the Jeremy Kyle show for seven and a half years, the absence of the presenter from ITV’s morning schedule will be a notable one. The network released a statement to say “We wish Jeremy well and are pleased that he is making such good progress.” Last week, The Jeremy Kyle Show was nominated for a National Television Award for best daytime TV. However, Kyle lost out to the long-running show This Morning.
