Jeremy Piven is a happy man - he's just learnt that Mr Selfridge has been renewed by ITV for another season. Mr Selfridge been ITV's biggest new drama for almost two years, pulling in up to 9.5 million viewers.

This means he'll reprise his role as the American entrepreneur Harry Gordon Selfridge in the show. Tweeting his excitement of the news, Piven posted: "Proud to say we will be back for a second season." And TV bosses teased that "some exciting new characters" would be in line for the viewers as the drama - set amongst the First World War in 1914 - continues it's success. Piven is best known for his role as Ari Gold in the television series Entourage for which he has won two Golden Globe Awards.

Acting director of drama commissioning Steve November said: "I am delighted to be re-commissioning ten new episodes of Mr Selfridge from ITV Studios. It is ITV drama at its best and we are looking forward to spending more time with the wonderful characters." Kate Lewis, executive producer for ITV Studios, added: "The story of Harry Selfridge, his family and colleagues has drawn in a strong drama audience and we are delighted by the response. The second series will allow us to build on this success and it is a fantastic opportunity to focus on 1914 during the centenary of the Great War." (via Daily Mail).
