Even though 'Seinfeld' ended 17 years ago, its creator is still the highest-paid comedian in the world, with earnings of $36 million.
Jerry Seinfeld has been named as the world’s highest-earning comedian in the last year, making the bulk of his money through his legendary TV series which ended nearly two decades ago.
As reported in the annual list published by Forbes, the top ten of which doesn’t include a single woman, the 61 year old comic made $36 million between June 1st 2014 and the same date in 2015. With a total net worth of more than $800 million, he continues to sell out stand-up tours throughout the world, despite his highly-rates series ‘Seinfeld’ ending back in 1998.
Jerry Seinfeld earned more than any other comedian in the world this year
The money he made was chiefly down to a deal he concluded with Hulu earlier this year. The streaming service paid $160 million to secure the rights to show re-runs of ‘Seinfeld’. He also currently stars in the successful web-based series ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’.

In second place on the Forbes list is 36 year old Kevin Hart, who earned a total of $28.5 million in the same 12 month period. His success has been based mainly on a hugely popular arena tour this year, coupled with high-profile appearances in comedy movies such as The Wedding Ringer, Get Hard and Think Like a Man Too.
Terry Fator, the ventriloquist and recent winner of ‘America’s Got Talent’, earned $21.5 million to finish third in the list, primarily through multi-million contracts for long-running residencies in Las Vegas. Behind him, incredibly, is another ventriloquist in the shape of Jeff Dunham and ‘Last Comic Standing’ judge Kevin Peters on $19 million each.
John Bishop is the only British comedian in the top ten, with earnings of $8 million for the year based on his stand-up comedy, enough to put him in ninth place.
In order to qualify for the list, a comedian’s earnings have to come primarily from ticket sales, but other sources of income are permitted as long as the first condition is fulfilled.
