The first series of the Dallas reboot begins next week on TNT and one of the stars of the show, Jesse Metcalfe has been talking about what it's been like reprising such an iconic series for modern day America. Metcalfe stars in the series, alongside Patrick Duffy (one of the show's original stars), Julia Gonzales and Jordana Brewster.

The actor spoke to Access Hollywood who were highly complimentary of the actor's performance in the new Dallas, describing it as his "best work to date." Jesse, who has previously starred in the hugely popular series Desperate Housewives, responded to the compliment by saying "It's the best thing I've got the opportunity to do. It's been a slow burn for me, I think. But luckily, it's a marathon, not a sprint. It's great to have another big opportunity on television - to be a part of something that could be another huge television phenomenon, but this time, be a lead as opposed to a supporting character."

According to Jesse, the show's producers avoided the potential pitfalls of remaking such an iconic show, by ensuring that "the major themes and the tone of the show is still very much intact, because if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And obviously, we've got the right head writer on the job. She created a script that was very true to the tone of the old series, but at the same time, contemporary." The series begins June 13, 2012 on TNT.
