Jessica Simpson, the 30-year-old American singer, says that love has helped her get through hurtful comments that people have made about her weight. Speaking to USA Today's ANN OLDENBURG on Monday (25th October 2010), Simpson said, "There's no way you're not going to be affected by the ugly things people say about you. It's very hurtful. It takes a great family and wonderful friends - and love definitely helps, too - to get through it".
The singer has been dating football player Eric Johnson since the start of the year, and Simpson opened up about the pair's relationship during the interview, saying, "He definitely makes me very happy. He brings out a lot of light in me and makes me very comfortable being who I am. It's nice to be with somebody who praises you for the right reasons". When asked about the media's obsession with her appearance, the 33-year-old discussed the 'difficult period' she suffered a couple of years ago, adding, "I feel like people are constantly curious as to how much I weigh or what I look like or what I wear".
Simpson released a greatest hits album entitled 'The Very Best of Jessica Simpson' on October 12th 2010, and her new festive record, 'Happy Christmas', is due to hit shelves on December 7th 2010.
